I've been playing around with using solar to maintain the batteries on my motor home - starter and house batteries.

I have a 100 watt solar panel and a control unit. The unit is variable in voltage although to Model T folks, I don't think you could set it to 6 volts.

Question: If I leave it hooked up 24/7 and very seldom use it, what voltage...

I know some of you have a 6.7 PS diesel. S&S Motorsports is coming out with a new high pressure pump to replace the famous CP4 pump. This CP4 is famous for failing and trashing out you fuel system. I am reading about timers rght now because I am stumped as to why even with a new timing rod,my timer's rod connection hole is straight up when the lever is in retard position. I thought a new rod would put things back stock.I don't want to break my arm if I have to hand crank at some point..I thought it should be leaning toward the passenger side...

Much has been posted in the subject of the pyroxylin finish on bodies for the Improved '26-'27 cars, and how they were a satin or low luster finish. This photograph is from promotional material for the new series, and it sure looks like it's about as shiny and high-gloss as anyone could wish for....

Shiny wouldn't last long in the country anyway, mostly the city folks probably kept theirs shiney because they had cobblestone streets and weren't driving in mud. OF course there was the Autobowl if you got mud on your tires!

Has anyone here got a V nosed trailer with the slant. I have a 18 foot v nose and it pulls worse than my 34 foot toy hauler. I think it is due to the square edge at the top of the V. I have seen a few V trailers with the slant top and was wondering if that would pull better. INPUT???? Thanks

Tire types and tire pressures on the combination will have an effect. Condition and suitability of the tow vehicle is important. The type of trailer suspension can be a factor. A hard cover over a pickup bed or a camper shell might reduce aero drag of the combination.

Well the good friend of mine that helped me get started into Model T's back in the early 90's had this short dog truck for years.I have always wanted it but he would never price it to me. Even right before he died, I tried to get it and he didn't really want to get rid of it.
Well he was taken to the hospital and couldn't come home and later died...

I'm wanting to buy a rim spreader for a 1922 Stanley 7 passenger touring. Not my car but wanted to give it to him as a gift. Would any of the ones out there work or does it have to be bigger than what we use on a Model T.

In 1922 Stanley made two distinct models, the 735 and the 740. Most 735s used 26 wheels and most 740s used 23 wheels, but time has a way of slipping different parts onto cars, so who knows what size are on the car.

Further, Stanley used lock-ring style rims, not split rims. Still, who knows what is on the car now.

Our 1913 Marmon 48B Speedster. 145 wheelbase 9.3 Liters. Ground thumper. Same engine that propelled the Marmon Wasp to win the first indanapolis 500!

Hi Guys off topic this time, I recently purchased a 1951 Rover 75 P4 know as a Cyclops for obvious reasons. Previous owner has passed away and had it for 60 years and it was always garaged. The interior woodwork is great and I want to keep it that way. Sun exposer when out and about is my main concern.
What do you suggest?

Well this was my wife's last hobby purchase. When we picked it up it was in boxes, it had been disassembled in the hopes of putting a modern machine in the cabinet. Fortunately The guy that took it apart decided the task was beyond his capability.

Out on my morning hike in the hills above Boise, I came across an old military cemetery. It is home to those killed in the Civil War and Indian War. Row after row of soldiers, civilians, children and unknowns lost during that time. Even found a reminder of the lamps on my Model T. Sobering reminder of how easy we have it nowadays....

We all have other hobbies, mine is antique (pre rev war) gunsmithing. I built the barrel from a prop shaft I recovered from a sunk boat and the stock from a square block of wood. The inscription on the muzzle translates to Fire from an angry King and was used on Spanish guns of the time.

I suspect that is a 'flat' black paint, which is a little 'furry' to the feel. There is another name for the almost velvety finish - a paint expert may be able to 'chip in' with that ;-)
It has no gloss element at all which gives it the 'extra black' appearance.

Another thing about Florida DMV and vehicle registrations. If you are listed as joint owners with both names on the title, put an ‘or’ between your names. Otherwise both parties need to sign.

I finally figured out what happened to the Bachmann 0-6-0 engine, it's missing a brass contact. With it missing no voltage to motor, I checked the motor and it runs fine with jumper wires direct to the frame. I'm guessing a past owner messed with it, unfortunately its so old that I cannot get new contacts from Bachmann. Guess I need to check ebay...

Heath Hahn was a collector from WAY back. he is also the guy that finished the 8 cylinder T that I have mentioned here before.. I never did get to hear it run sadly.

I restored a 1964 Honda Superhawk CB77 20 years ago. The gas tank had a lot of rust so I did the bolts and nuts, muriatic acid treatment then used the recommended sealer for the time Kreem. It is now peeling off. What should I do to get it back in service?

that Kreme breaks loose in big sheets and clogs filters. I think the modern fuel blends ruin it.
Just be careful using Redcoat. Startron and Stabil will dissolve the stuff and it will clog your fuel system and worse.

There is alot more by google but the point is, clean the tank very well and use a filter.

Yesterday, there was a severe storm and a small area was flooded near a mountain where there had been a brush fire last summer. That is common for the areas just below the mountain canyons. So at 4:00PM an emergency alert was sent out interrupting the TV and cell phones to stay at home and don't travel unless warned to evacuate the area....

I was invited to pick through some auto memorabilia which was to be disposed of soon. I hesitate to even look at collections but couldn't resist. There is barely room for what I have.
However, I came home with some treasures that have some charm and will squeeze them into the garage. I couldn't bear the thought of them going to the dump....

Isn't it nice to have things like that on hand. It's well worth the space it takes up even if we only use some of it.

This year we had very strange weather and many deer in the yard. I got one apple(at least one which stayed on the tree). Here is a picture of it. :P

Marvelous machine. As for speed, I'd think hard tires, light weight, and lack of shocks would make it necessary to keep speeds way down except on very smooth pavement or a really smooth, hard-packed dirt road. Carrying a passenger would probably improve stability. Is there anything like an operator's manual available for those vehicles?

I have a Victorian house with a metal shingled roof. I am in search of a good, rubber based, metal roof sealant that can be brush painted on. I found a picture online of a product called “Water Blok”, being applied. It is the exact color I am looking for as my roof was painted red 20 years ago and it looked great until the sun caused it to fade...

There really aren't many roofers who will mess with maintaining an embossed tin-shingle roof, unless it entails stripping it off and replacing with new material. Add to that that pretty much anyone with a hammer is now headed to Ft. Myers, places Jim at a real disadvantage right now.
