I do not sell kits nor individual parts any more. The parts shown above were an effort to supply the need for replacement parts after Stan Howe died. As it turns out, there was no demand for parts and therefor, no need to continue production of those parts. I now only make parts to satisfy my needs on my own personal carb collection.

What do you know about Sterling Spark plugs? I picked a set of eight up, still in the box and they are in very nice shape. They look a lot like a straight side Champion x. The V bends are made using heat. It's a very poor practice for several reasons. As previously mentioned, if the bend involves 2 or more leaves, it will jam the leaves and prevent them sliding on one another, which they must do for the spring to flex. Another issue is the right angle or near right angle bend in the leaf or leaves. You will NEVER...

Bottom line, anything running E85 vs gas/10% will get way worse mileage given ethanol only has about 2/3 the equivalent BTU's to gas. This also therefore equates to reduced power output. So, unless E85 is less than 2/3 the cost of gas, or you don't mind wasting $$$ from a mileage perspective or making your engine work harder, or you're doing so...

I've have heard many times here that ball bearing 4th mains are bad, it'll break your crank! .
But why? Does a babbitt 4th main have more give ? Is it more about alignment? If a babbitted ball cap is installed cocked , does it just wear in with slightly less contact when done? When a pan flexes, does the babbitt just wear at the edges during the...

Ball or roller bearings are commonly used at the rear of the mainshaft in later transmissions. It's common to see a babbit lined bushing at the rear tailshaft when it also serves to support a sliding driveshaft yoke. I don't think a ball or roller 4th main on a T could contribute to crankshaft problems as long as it was properly engineered AND...

There is no need to drill any holes in the running boards. Simply make a wooden base board for the toolbox to sit on. remove the two running board bolts and the two nearest fender bolts, either at the front or rear, and use longer bolts to fix the base board in place, It will sit on top of the dimples so moisture will not be held. Then screw the...

For the water outlet and inlet gasket try making your own:
1 On the head or block, apply a layer of Ultra Black
2 On the outlet or inlet, smear grease;
3 Tighten the bolts enough to flatten the Ultra Black;
4 Let it set up and cure;
5 Tighten the bolts.
If you remove and reinstall those parts later, apply only new grease.
I mention Ultra Black...

Probably. But if it is higher in dielectric properties than ordinary grease, it might not be the best thing to put on electrical contact surfaces. Speedster 1/2 oval steel body trim

Hi All,
Looking at trim options for speedsters.
In the Orange field at Hershey were two 1922 Mercers. On the semi restored Mercer was a 1/2 oval steel trim riveted along the edge of the cowl. Looks like brass or copper rivets. See photos. This was typical for a 1920's era car and used on one of my original speedster bodies.
I anyone aware where...

1/2 ovals are available through wood boat restorers places. Used all the time in old boat resto's. Comes in several heights and widths and is all C35000 brass (old 350 for us white-hairs) so is generally bendable (and sometimes when going through a reseller for the product you can actually get it in dead soft annealed). For tight curves you would...

How to pull a T onto a tow truck

First post
I have read that if the Model T is pulled by its front axle, the wishbone ball socket can be pulled from the crankcase.
Those of you who have had your T pulled up onto a flatbed tow truck, where was the winch line attached to the car?
Last post
DO NOT PULL ON THE CENTRE OF THE AXLE! One participant on our recent national rally used the winch cable around the centre of the axle as the only tie down in his enclosed trailer. Then drove the 700km trip to the venue. The result was a car so squirrely to drive that his guest driver would not use it after fighting with it on the first day.
I...

October 1924 Ford Service Bulletin Page 76, shows the new rib, or oil deflector cast into the transmission cover. I recently bought an earlier version transmission cover, by mistake, relying on another persons judgement.

I thought I would share a couple pics of the Ranch Doodlebug build. Engine and Ruckstell are done. A huge shout out to Mr. Hank Lee for rebuilding my Zenith carburetor as I know it has been done right and also for modifying my Winfield intake manifold to ensure a proper fit. Hank is indeed an artist. Thanks Hank!

Hard to match it, but some similarities. The builder of the car did make some modifications to the original design.
Top of back seat, length of cowl, steering wheel close to dash.

I’m trying to adjust my horn, it has stopped blowing.
In the past, a simple turning of the screw in the rear , would bring it back.
Not this time,
Please note the horn manufacturer, in the photos.

To all the people who gave me advice on my horn. I want to say thanks.
I pulled it all apart, cleaned it and oiled it. Hooked it back up, backed off the adjustment screw, and followed the advice given.
The horn has never sounded better.
Thanks again

Larry- these Delco distributors are designed to run at crank speed. There are 2:1 reduction gear sets in the unit to run both rotors and the point cam at camshaft speed. Hope this clarifies your concern.

My braided cable looked perfect but it would get hot when cranking and replacing it improved the cranking speed. The cable had resistance and it looked fine.

Good god whatever you do don’t use what’s commonly known as duct tape. I had a hell of a mess years back when installing new tires on the ‘27 Tudor I had at the time. Literally decomposed. Dust and strings all stuck to the rim. Unholy mess. If you simply MUST go economy use the “real” duct tape. The aluminum stuff with the paper backing. It lasts...

Found my bendix cover screw but that is minor. Removed the starter this evening and found problems.
Both locks were in place on the bendix bolts but both bolts were loose. With the drive collar bolt loose it allowed for wear on the woodruff key and in time would have sheared the key and bolt tip.
The inside of the starter is very oiled soaked....

I have a 1926 chassis I purchased. It came with an engine mounted coil box I am rebuilding. Did they use longer bolts for the coil box mounting or are they all the same size?

Since the thickness of the coil box brackets are only about 1/8”, the head bolts securing the coil box are not compromised by losing only 1/8” worth of threads. To custom cut three of the head bolts 1/8” longer could be a problem for the next owner if he is not aware that several of the head bolts are longer than the rest of the head bolts as the...
