Any problems with tearing up/bending a windshield sun visor while towing on a open trailer. I have to take the ‘25 Coupe some 80 miles next week and wonder what speed might have caused any damage to someone in the past. Thanks…

Because all the roads to where it is going have a 70 mph speed limit and there is a loose magnet keeper bouncing around in the hogshead……😊

On a modern 6v coil, is there a need to wire the primary with a resistor?

I carry a spare resistor and a spare module. You never know when you'll need one or the other, but you WILL need them! The starter solenoid is not reliable, either. It's a great truck, but the electrical stuff is of almost English quality.

Should I use washers on the head bolts on a CAST IRON head? 1926 Roadster.

I think it a combination of how many times the head has been planned (faced?) and how may times the bolts have been used (stretched), so washers do have a place to ensure you get proper pull down.

Clearing the holes is important, it surprises me how much gunk comes out of holes that spend most of their life containing the head bolt.

Working away on the ignition switch wiring but have derailed myself.

I removed all the wiring screws but putting them back in the correct places is a problem.

I didn't realize that they are two different lengths so now don't know which what goes where.

Any hints on where longs and shorts go?

Today, I removed the top fabric from my coupe. I am attaching pics of a fastener that attaches the top wood to the body.

It appears that it is a bolt that threads into some type of nut that is recessed in the wood. I can barely see the head of the bolt, but it appears to be round and flat so it would not be possible to get a wrench or socket...

I'm also considering using some flat rare-earth magnets sewn in the lower seam to hold the fabric to the door. Not Period in the least although if I'm on tour and it's raining I won't care.

When you want a speedy carb for your car, you might look for Zenith made for a T in the flea market: S4BF with fuel line adapter.png

But instead, you find this...and what is it? It LOOKs sort of familiar, but still, it isn't quite right...nothing lines up where it should; the throttle arm is on the wrong side...and where the heck is the idle...

Tim left out one bit of information about the 90 psi on his 1911 torpedo, it was stroked by .25 inches and bored by .060 in. The displacement is 194 cu. In. With stock bore and stroke it would have about 80 psi. Still very good.

My stock 23.has 62 psi. on all 4 cylinders. New rings but not bored 6000 miles ago

I’ve been checking out a few miscellaneous cutouts that have accumulated over the years, and was surprised to find a diode in one of them.

I think this one is actually set up for positive ground… I can’t see a polarity indicator on the diode, but current flows when the input terminal is connected to 6-vt Neg and the output is connected to 6-vt...

Has any forum reader tried and run a Swan carburetor, notably a Swan A-1-F model? It is an updraft carburetor and would normally be used with a Swan combination intake/exhaust manifold, but I guess could be used with any updraft intake, even a Model A. I recently picked up a set of Hayes 30x3-1/2 demountable wire wheels and have a couple of questions.

I use Shell Rotella 15w40 non-synthetic but I just looked and the difference in price between standard Rotella and Rotella T6 (Synthetic) and it's only $4.00 more per gallon at Walmart. 5W or 0W would probably be more suitable for use in Maine than in the Carolinas. A 30W or 40W equivalent at operating temerpature ought to be fine for a T engine. I'd go with a 10W30 for break in, unless in very cold weather, in which case I'd choose a 5W20 or even a 0W20.

Almost the correct cranking technique it looks to me!
It’s her left hand alright but her thumb is on the wrong side of the crank! Hopefully this was a staged photo since the driver had the spark pulled almost all the way down! It’s a minor last defense detail that gets forgotten about until you have a wrenched or broken shoulder.

I have one of those. Mine is a really long post card that you could fold up and mail. The Henry Ford was selling them some years ago in the bookshop. Try going on line or calling them for availability. It is a glossy hand colored photo post card about 2 feet or more long, seem to remember they were quite inexpensive, like 8-12 dollars.

I have a Paterson speedo drive which has a spiral bronze gear inside the transmission and has a special transmission cover plate. I need a replacement fibre gear that goes on the end of the shaft and is driven by the spiral gear. Does anyone have/know of a source for same?

Thanks Bruce, I will call you. The one on my drive was a 10 tooth gear, but I am not that fussy. any gear will be better than none.
I drew a blank with Tim Morsher as a source. He has sold out. Did anyone out there purchase a couple of his gears, and holds one as a spare?

These were more useful before the new Ford coil which began in early 1913.
This one is serial number F103175 .

K-W also offered the Autolock switch that fit the Ford new
metal coil box for 1913, second photo.

The paint on the moldings around the rear quarter panels on my 1927 coupe is in fairly good condition. They are removed. I am thinking of sanding it, priming it with Rust-Oleum, and top coating with Rust-Oleum Gloss Enamel.

Bruce, it depends. Sometimes the process does take some time for the new topcoat to blister/craze whatever. You may be able to accelerate the reaction by mixing more of the new paint thinners into the paint you want to use. For what it's worth, I use a spray can of epoxy enamel for such applications. I thought I was done with my disk brake project on my 26 Touring but have a lingering question.

The hose from the remote reservoir is a bit long and I let the hose droop a little below the level of the master cylinder in the routing. Seems to make no difference and the system bled ok. Do you think this will create a problem?

Hi Michael,
Gravity being the weakest but most persistant force in the universe it shoud not be a issue unless it kinks over time. Check it once in awhile, you never know when the extra hose will come in handy.

Every HCCT has a wire from the mag ring terminal to the HCCT.
Disconnct the mag ring wire from the HCCT.
This will isolate the mag ring from the rest of the HCCT.
Then recharge the magnets the same as you would in the car.

I am posting three photos of the windshield frame on the coupe. I need suggestions on how to remove and replace the rubber. It appears it is going to be quite difficult. I need help!

It looks like the same rubber piece is on the horizontal and vertical parts of the frame. I have ordered the material from one of the suppliers.
