A buddy of mine is going to pick up his first Model T (1922) next Tuesday. He helped me get my T going so I'm going to do the same for him. I have a couple of questions for the group.
1.) Is there anyone who will re-core a 1922 low radiator or is Bergs or Brassworks the only option to get a serviceable flat-tube radiator?
2.) Is there a guide...

Just make sure they understand its not pressurised. I told a local shop that and they called and said it needed recored. I said it was a small leak. He told me it really started leaking at 7lbs and at 10lbs it leaked everywhere. I now have a recore.

It's a mechanic's tool. (Lisle?) The spoke like device has a selection of scraper bits for use with various types of pistons. You loosen the knob and turn the spoked wheel so that the correct bit is in position to use. A stock Model T would use a bit designed for a 1/4 ring groove. The tool is to be used carefully, taking out only carbon, and no...

13/14 Rear.. Casting date?

Was working on the rear axle today and dad and I were wondering if the casting numbers on the one half of the shell translate to a casting date. 7 - M - 14 shows clearly on one half above the part #. Just curious if July 1914 would be a translation, or is the set of numbers and letter have no significance.
Ideas or insults welcome :D

There are/were two types of fibre gears. Tony's, being as old as it is, is likely to be a laminated fibre gear. These are far superior to the stuff available today, these being made from macerated fibre, ie. chopped fibre glued together in some kind of mix. They are like chalk and cheese as far as strength/durability goes.

A fellow volunteer at our local museum told me her 'family folklore' said that great-uncle Bill was Henry Ford's chauffeur. How much could it have changed?

The rods can be checked for bend and twist once you have them out. Still no need to pull the head, but probably easier if you don't have access to a hoist.

Does anyone know anything about a Jim Wade regrind cam? I have one my stuff in a box marked “ Jim Wade regrind .255 lift”.
Nothing on cam it self. Just has that on box. An info would be helpful.
Was someone named Jim Wade grinding cams years ago? Thanks Dan
I know what the .255 lift means, just want to know if cam is any good grind wise.

I once had a wheel I could not get off with either of the tools shown.
I ended up backing off the nut a couple of turns (so it was loose but not falling off) and then driving the car a little making tight turns both left and right.
That worked when nothing else would.

Friends,
My youngest son, who was off at college, got sick in early April and was diagnosed with leukemia. It's been nearly two months since the diagnosis, although it feels like a year. This has been nothing short of a nightmare for us (and continues to be). He spent 5 weeks at a cancer specialty hospital in Pittsburgh, Pa, and is now back home...

Erik,
I lost my best friend to leukemia back in the '90s and three years later I lost my only son to some other medical issue. I certainly do not wish this on you or anyone else, the nightmare, the feeling like you are a primary caregiver in your own home. Model Ts are definitely not the most important thing in life, nor much else, just God and...

I would hope this thread will aid in restoring or maintaining Martin-Parry vehicles.
Aftermarket bodies , particularly for Ford chassis were very prevalent and popular almost from the start. Specialty body companies offered delivery bodies starting with the 1903 model A Ford. Most if not all were pretty small concerns, located in busy urban...

Ben, I had the same problem with the doors on my 1917 shooting brake. Over the seasons, the horizontal joints in the door side panels open and close as they are wont to. What I should have done is made the joints a lap joint, so that they could still move but the overlap would disguise the gap. I kick myself over this.

From a post in 2009,
For the carburetor end, bend the wire about 80 degrees in toward the carburetor, and go about 3/16 in, and then straighten it out again. Cut the wire about 1/4 past that.

I'm planning to mount a Sparton horn on the long radiator to firewall rod over the engine on my 26 Touring. Some said this may not be good for the radiator. I have a Berg's radiator and will mount horn as close to the firewall as I can. Has anyone ever had any issues when you mounted a horn in this manner? Not speculation but had something bad...

Here is a nifty switch I intend to wire up to choose which horn the button will activate. Turn the switch sideways and you'd get a nice discrete turn signal switch!

The red line measurement is about 36-3/8 on my front bow.
