holley-model-g-model-t-ford-45.jpg Hi All, Does anyone know if the pickup tube and venturi clip are available anywhere, or can somebody let me know the size of tube used. I picked up a really clean carb in very good condition and the parts above are not in the carb. Thanks in advance .

I think you are going to have to find a used tube. You will note that the bottom of the one shown, pickup end, is pinched partly shut. While you might be able to duplicate that with solder, getting the orifice and length the correct size might be iffy. Not to mention finding the correct size coupling nut and finding a flare tool that small and if...

Well, it's gotten to be that time when I need to get my '15 Touring reupholstered. Getting the kit is no problem and I'll probably use Classtique. If your car has black centers on the hubcaps, and the paint has worn off in spots, an easy fix is a Sharpie marking pen. It's easy to go around the letters with one, and it blends right in. If you go onto a letter, it will polish right off.

Many men from my generation, who grew up in the 60’s building models still enjoy building the occasional plastic model kit. I have an old Allen HCCT. When I try to test a coil, I am only getting about 3 volts at 1.3 amps. Is this probably a symptom of weak magnets?
Last post
The magneto test as described in the Ford HCCT manual says to connect the car magneto to the HCCT test stand and run the engine at a moderate speed.
The Ammeter should register at least 0.8 Amps.
There is no criteria for a minimum voltage stated in the manual.
This test would be the same on all HCCTs with or without a voltmeter.

Does it matter which start is selected? I can get the spring and pin in the balance ring somewhere near the Bendix...
Last post
Doesnt matter. Important that pin & spring ride on top of one of those threads. That pin keeps the gear from vibrating into engagement. If the counterweight comes off it must be replaced back on in the proper position for that pin alignment. If you miss that alignment the pin hole & inside counter bore can be redrilled.

Did Ford ever cut X oil groves in T rods? My thinking is the X gives the oil a path in —-but it also gives the oil a path out under pressure. And I’m thinking the surface area of the bearings is greatly diminished leading to a shortened rod life.
Last post
Dan, that rod doesn't seem to be a popular idea at that time, no mention of it in service Bulletins for 1926/7 or available as a spare part even into the 1930's parts books. Maybe a bit like the tin piston

So I’ve fixed the stripped head bolt problem, turns out the threads in the block were pretty good, tap went in and out with little issue after the hole was cleaned. Valves looked ok and no sticking. I am starting a pie wagon project and plan to have interior lighting which will recuire 12 volt system. I have read the posts suggesting that running 12 volts to the starter is hard on the flywheel and ring gear. My question can I have my 6 volt starter converted to 12 volts and if so would the converted starter be as hard on the fly wheel?
Last post
Why not just buy a 12 volt battery and run a separate circuit for your lighting? Cheaper than replacing a starter. You probably have a charger already, so you only need a battery.

I have a frame that appears to be a '25 ( only 2 rivets on on hand brake pawl ) It has a serial number C726397, does the C indicate Canadian? Also the front crossmember is located on top of the side rail instead of above, and the side rail is stepped to allow for this. Can anybody shed some light on this ?

The plug is typical Ediswan type, with the dual in-line nubs to twist and lock in the socket. Bayonet style.
These plugs could be had in rubber (plastic today) plug or metal banded.
The metal band holds up better, but cost more in the day. Used mostly for plugging to sockets for trouble lamps or dash lamps.

Guess there were two styles of the wrench. I have seen others like the one shown without the end for taking off the nut that attaches the cut out to the post. I thought they were something someone modified, but guess not. It is used to loosen/tighten the nut that holds the 3rd brush so output can be adjusted. If you use it on running car, suggest...

Has any Forum member purchased this mirror?
If so, I'd like to know how well it works.
Is there something better out there for a 1913 Ford Touring?
Thank you,

I agree it would be better without the modern hardware, but you can easily replace the Phillips screws and put on a brass cap nut in place of the hex nut.
While a mirror on a Model T may not be rock steady, it doesn't have to be. As long as it shows you what's behind you, you don't need to see the details.

Pete,
I’ve seen this roadster up close. It looks like very well done, period work. I’ve encountered other Model K were converted to speedsters in the early years after production. I’ve long suspected this car was changed to a roadster years ago.

I still have still not found any other old car owners in Klamath Falls area but that has not stopped me from having little tours of my own. The picture was taken from my front...

Great story, looked like a great tour, and I loved that little old decaying gas station. One can just imagine the visible pumps
in the place of those ugly old pumps that are there now. Too bad whoever owns it is letting it go to rot and ruin. Such a shame. Good that you took pictures of it.

I drive my T's a lot. Yesterday. after a short drive, I left my 1915 touring idling running on magneto while I ran in the house for no more than two minutes. When I came out, smoke was pouring out of the coil box. I shut her down and removed the coil box lid and found the number one coil had tar bubbling out of it. I'm guessing it shorted out? I...

That made me wonder if a lid would have prevented this from happening. That being said, does anyone have a slant style coil box lid for a 23 roadster? Thanks..Tommy.

I assume we are looking for early Fords, but do not limit yourself to Model T Folrds. My choice would be a Model K, perhaps a late production one. My other choice would be the original engine from Model T number one, for the original engine was replaced soon after assembly.
