You can generally spot the electrified headlamps by the full reflectors near the front of the lamp door and lens. Acetylene gas lamps burn rather hot, and the Mangin mirrors or other reflectors need to be some distance back so that they do not burn, break, or smoke up. Thanks Jim, good advice. I’ve got a later Fulton brand in another car, and it works fine with just being held against the glass with a spring. I may see if I can do that first. If you ever check out eBay, the cheap Fulton prisms sell for $15. The real deal usually sells into the hundreds. The reason for that is the plastic ones don’t work.

Yes, the fender irons are bolted on. 3/8 bolts, 24 threads per inch if I recall correctly. Originally, they had castle nuts and cotter pins on the outside and underneath. If you aren't going for trophies or an OCD purist, standard nuts and lock washers work fine. Bolts should be grade 5 or equivalent (good original bolts are fine!).

Its been a few days and a lot has been happening. Here's the latest:

We mailed the information packets to the 2019 Bakersfield vendors today. There were 195 vendors on that list. I tried to have the exact Bakersfield grid duplicated on the Tulare...

If you read the Fordbarn post, I did some checking on the jacks, they are not inexpensive items and don't come with the 4 post lift. That post has some good information about brands and which ones to stay away from. If I had room I would go with the 2 post and my knees are not that good ether. What good is a 4 post lift if you have to move cars...

It was used on a scale. You weighed out what ever then with the spout you could dump in a bag, box etc. Pills, candy, rat poison ( :twisted: ) etc.

The exhaust pipe needs 'adjusting'. Fitting spacers/shims/alternative mountings are all masking the real problem, one which is not uncommon with reproduction exhaust pipes. I would take the pipe off and make the 'adjustment'. All you need is a fork in a tree so you can slightly increase the bend.
The bigger the tree the better, as that will reduce...

Hard, oh yeah! I restored a 12 column and could never get the column and basket hot enuf to solder even using acetylene and a rosebud tip. I wound up using epoxy to glue everything together, rivets included.
I tried to solder twice and only succeeded in blackening the parts requiring hours of buffing. That column was a mess. The holes in the base...

If you purchased the ''oversize set with the oversize pinion shaft, then yes, you'll have to fit the new pinion to the cover. Either ream the cover bore or remove some of the oversize shaft to make a nice slip fit.

For me, most times the new set in std. size works OK with a cover that has been re-plated with nickel, as the new nickel layer adds...

Since your engine is a new build the cam isn’t an issue as you said. Find yourself a better front cover and you’ve solved the problem. They are fairly plentiful. Good luck.
A simple question that wound up being a simple fix.

Wouldn't be too dismal......even with full size plans, there is finding quality kiln dried ash to make the sills, and all the other parts. Plus the compound curves to do the pieces.

With a 'wood kit' you can be on your way. Sure it may be pricey, but all the hard work and quality hardwood is at your side.

If you have a 1915-16 style hood former, any firewall to suit that will do. As far as I know, the only difference in a starter type firewall is the second slot for the in cabin choke pull.

A full width windscreen can be mounted on woodwork mounted behind the firewall. It can be any shape you want it to suit whatever size screen you decide upon....

Like Mark had said, the one is a distributor wrench and the other 2 are bearing or bushing pullers (I can't remember which) for the transmission I believe, later V-8 tools. I have no idea what the last one is.

Those new screws are Metric, very common in China, just go get some more!

One more problem, the screws are a little smaller on the head and often go through the terminal eye without a small flat washer that is difficult to find.

Another thought (From actual experience)... If the top looked great when it was installed and now looks loose, it could be due to body wood problems.

The ones I've seen are much thinner than what's available today. Usually they are somewhat serrated as well.

I also have a 5 Ball that has a threaded inlet in place of the Flange used in the Model T’s

At first I thought aftermarket for using a non-T carb on a T, but the ports look kind of small. Maybe for some other make of car.

To answer your original question......Here is how it was done back then. Since they interfere with a camshaft in the cylinder block these were intended to only be used under a overhead cam setup.

I found I have two like Steve posted. I have one I'll probably use that I had to bend the angle back in. The other one I have, someone enlarged the hole for the pin, so it would need fixing. I'm rebuilding a 1914 steering column for a friend. What a job! Getting the pins out for all the levers and spring retainers is definitely no fun at all!

The new thicker hubcaps I've seen are probably better than what Ford made. However, if you are into originality, be sure you know what you are doing! There is a '13 hubcap on the forum now that appears very nice, but I don't know anything about them.

That key is shaped like a half circle. I think it's called a Woodruff Key. What I did was to take the pitman arm to an auto parts store and got a key which fits in the slot in the arm. It seemed to fit right into the shaft and works just fine.
