Years ago, one of the 4X4 magazines did a story on an F250 Ford. The guy lifted it way up and put big tires on it, and then he rolled it over and crushed it. He got a deal on a Dodge truck and swapped the cab and box onto the F250 chassis. Later he blew the engine and swapped in a big block Chevy. Then he decided to go full blown monster truck,...

Is anyone running a Winfield 5H sidedraft carb? I have one and wonder if it'd be too much for a slightly warmed up T motor?
Last post
A friend of mine is running a 5H on a basically stock motor with a T Fronty head. It’s a sweet running combination. It wouldn’t take much to get a flat head to run with similar results. A little compression... a bit of cam... and a much larger intake manifold will liven up an otherwise stock motor considerably.
The barrel valve carbs are known...

The chief difference I can see between Cartouche kits and Classtique's is that Classtique kit uses power coated buttons (which are nice) and the Cartouche doesn't, theirs are seat fabric covered. The other difference is that the Classtique kit comes with everything and installs as a unit (upholstery cover, padding, muslin sewn to the cover, the...

Murray Fahnestock says to straighten the pan by attaching to the block and using wood block and large hammer.
My concern is will that damage the block. I need to move it a little over 1/16”

I resorted to a similar process to Mark. On my 1915 pan, which I first set up on a pan jig to check for straighteners, it was perfect when I had finished with it. On assembly, the fourth.main was 1/16+ out. Before tearing it off and having another try, I let it sit for a day or two while I considered the problem, and came to the conclusion there...

Hello fellow Model T-ers,
My new to me 1912 Warren Speedster has a Model A manifold and carburator. Would any of you have a suggestion on where I might find an air cleaner that would fit in these tight quarters?
Thank you for any ideas you may offer.
Steven
Last post
If you end up needing more room between your carburetor and exhaust pipe you could get a Model B exhaust manifold. They are sloped back like a Model T exhaust and you could move your exhaust pipe to Model A muffler connection back some. For more speedster fun you can get a Model B intake and carburetor for more speed.

That would mean you have an open wire, or terminal connection between the generator to ammeter to battery.
The open is often on that firewall terminal block or a longer screw going to ground there.
The wire on your generator cutout should measure the battery voltage all the time.
The ignition switch has nothing to do with that circuit....

Do a search of mtfca; warford brace (or support)
In your case you would want a spring loaded support not solid like the cast iron type to allow the frame to flex. With the aluminum cased type, the brace really is not needed but I think is a good idea.

I have not been to Chickasha for 3 years, and I am looking forward to seeing old friends.
I also have snowmobile spindles, early frame, early 13-14 complete rear end, and usual load of miscellaneous parts. I would have posted more pictures, but only allowed 5 per post.
I just want a fair price as this is just a hobby of mine.

I currently tow with a bigger set-up but I am looking for a car for my daughter and she likes the Jeep Grand Cherokee. She has a 1915 roadster and would have a 20' enclosed trailer. We would buy used around 2018-2020 and the Hemi version is tempting but maybe a little overkill. Does anyone have any experience with a similar set-up?
Last post
I have a 2011 Grand Cherokee (Sumit) with a V-8 Hemi. I've pulled my Fordor on a flatbed trailer all over the U>S. with absolutely no problems. It likes gas at 8 MPG. Most of the time I drove the speed limit, up to 70 MPH.

freezing bushings?

I am needing to press a new bushing into one of my triple gears. The engine appears to have maybe 1-2 thousand miles on it after new aluminum pistons and a ground crank done by an owner 30+ years ago. 2 gears and bushings are fine but one was loose making a rattle and the cotton low band deteriorated from age, necessitating the tear down. I found...

I've been freezing bushings with liquid nitrogen for over 30 years. Works great. I have done it in a work setting, never yet on Model T parts. Consider a few things...
- The smaller the bushing, the less it will shrink. So you get diminishing returns in smaller bushings.
- Place the bushing in the nitrogen bath. When the boiling stops, the...

Down to the last step in drying in our T by attaching vinyl cloth. The kit I have came with long grain material and a 1/4 thick foam pad that goes on top of the slats covered with a canvas material. My question is how far do you extend the foam over the crest of the wood frame, do you not extend it in to the tack area or not?
The attached photos...

I just got an order in with more bits to redo the ignition system. One item ordered just because was a coffee cup. It is steel with some sort of coating resembling the old porcelain coated camp cups of my youth. The color is a deep cobalt blue with white graphics outside and white inside. Langs had this in the accessories section. I'm looking...

Today I got to spend the day with two of my favorite people doing my favorite thing. I spent the day in the garage with my Dad, Russ Furstnow, and son Jordon. We were restoring the fenders for my son’s 1925 Model T pickup. It was absolutely fantastic to watch my Dad pass on his knowledge to Jordon. I am so proud of them both!!!

A friend is clearing our some old car stuff to make room for more clocks (go figure). He has these three lamps which look like Model T. One is marked Patent Oct 27 14.
Are these T lamps, and if so for what years, and what is a range of value? Anything else of note such the maker identified on the one chimney? Many thanks in advance.

Question about carbide/acetylene hose clamps

Tbird » Mon Mar 08, 2021 7:24 pm
First post
I thought I read somewhere that the acetylene gas hose was not suppose to have clamps? But rather it just slips on the brass pipe? This was due to allowing the hose not building up to pressure?
The clamps I'm referring to are the brass ones that attach to the red hose. Any clarity on this
Thanks

Hi, I just unloaded my new Model T cattle trailer to be used behind my 1921 unrestored ( Art Moran) touring car. Barn fresh with the chicken crap still on it. The racks are easily removable. early T wheels. It will be a lot of fun this summer. I am going to wash it gently tomorrow and linseed oil it. Bob.

I have a set of 100 negatives taken from an unknown tour of western US. Negatives number 59 and 60 are of a wrtecked 1911 Model T Ford. I beleive the tour took place in 1912. The radiator does not have the Ford name and the filler neck looks different. I beleive it is a heavy duty radiator.

You can generally spot the electrified headlamps by the full reflectors near the front of the lamp door and lens. Acetylene gas lamps burn rather hot, and the Mangin mirrors or other reflectors need to be some distance back so that they do not burn, break, or smoke up. Electric lamp bulbs run considerably cooler and allow fuller reflectors up near...

I’ve been looking for a period traffic light prism for a long time. They rarely show up on eBay and often for more $$ lthan I’m willing to pay. I hit an infield double the other day at a local antique mall. Both from 1926, both from Cleveland and I have a great use for both. The seller put his price tag on the moonbeam box and the young clerk took...

Thanks Jim, good advice. I’ve got a later Fulton brand in another car, and it works fine with just being held against the glass with a spring. I may see if I can do that first. If you ever check out eBay, the cheap Fulton prisms sell for $15. The real deal usually sells into the hundreds. The reason for that is the plastic ones don’t work.

Howdy,
I haven’t messed with T’s in a while. I still have a 1915 touring sitting in the corner of my garage waiting on me to start restoring it. One of its issues is the frame has the running board brackets and fender irons bolted on. It’s a bit beyond my capabilities to rivet them back on. So, my question is, what’s the going rate for a decent...
Last post
Yes, the fender irons are bolted on. 3/8 bolts, 24 threads per inch if I recall correctly. Originally, they had castle nuts and cotter pins on the outside and underneath. If you aren't going for trophies or an OCD purist, standard nuts and lock washers work fine. Bolts should be grade 5 or equivalent (good original bolts are fine!).

If you read the Fordbarn post, I did some checking on the jacks, they are not inexpensive items and don't come with the 4 post lift. The exhaust pipe needs 'adjusting'. Fitting spacers/shims/alternative mountings are all masking the real problem, one which is not uncommon with reproduction exhaust pipes. I would take the pipe off and make the 'adjustment'. All you need is a fork in a tree so you can slightly increase the bend.
The bigger the tree the better, as that will reduce...

It was put together as a mail carrier car in Lindsay, Montana in the early 40's and used during World War II.
