Do any one run the Sure Mike cranks? Do they make a difference on pulling hills and vibration? I have a couple and been wondering if they are worth installing. Thanks Joe
Last post
I have a 22 Canadian block with s SureMike crank.
I ground the journals and reinstalled it when I restored the engine some years ago. I'm running a 250 cam and a Z head with aluminium pistons.
I have had no problems, the engine is a good performer on hills and is quiet and reasonably vibration free.

For those who have a kindle or kindle emulator on their cellphone there is a Ford related book on Amazon Kindle for $1.99 - Fordlandia: The Rise and Fall of Henry Ford's Forgotten Jungle City might make an interesting read. For that price it's hard to go wrong.

A few months ago I put a Holley NH carb on the 13T. I set the mixture per the guide on the MTFCA site. Reading past threads, I understood some Ts require making the mixture a little rich by a quarter or half turn to get a cold engine started.
That being said, my Holley NH runs about 1.25 turns open once it’s warm; however, when it is cold an...

I agree with those who say that all Ts are different when starting. My '27 will not start with the spark fully retarded. It likes about three notches of advance (which is still retarded, just not as much). As mine warms up there will be considerable fooling with the mixture or it will quit. Once it is fully warmed up I can set the spark and...

There should be no problem with centering the spring and the spring holder. The square bolt at the top of the spring should fit right into the hole in the crossmember. The pad should be thin enough to allow that bolt head to fit into the square hole. The plate bolted to the bottom of the spring has a hole in it through which the bottom of the...

Not to be argumentative but the tanks did have similar ribs to what I think I see. I thought the ribs in the display version would hold the shelves. I see what you mean by sections. With the lack of paint on them I can imagine them being the bottoms of sections now.

Harold, its not just the compression but equally important is the combustion chamber. Z heads have a combustion chamber that is much like the one Ford settled on for the Model A to increase its performace.

This question is not specific to the Model T but does anyone know if partial bottles of Stabil are good for a prolonged period of time ? I suppose there are others who find they have left over product from the previous year's winterizing. In the spirit of Henry Ford's frugality, do I use it or toss it?

From Sta-Bil
If you have an unopened bottle of STA-BIL, it will be good for up to five years. Then once you open the bottle we recommend using within two years for best results. However, after the two years you may still use the product as a fuel system cleaner as long as...

My son has a 1911 touring, a nice older restoration that runs well. It does have a small problem with the steering. In about a year's time, I'm going to need clinchers (all 30 x3.5 ) for my speedster project. I would love all white tires, but the fear of browning is a bit of a turn off, in addition to the price. The otherwise nice '27 Coupe that I'm working on for a family having an estate sale has a d**m Holley vaporizer carb still on it. Similar system to T, but larger carb, and intake something like the late T Vaporizer, since it mounts to the exhaust manifold to preheat fuel vapor for best combustion. Ford-Zenith carb.

Walker radiator, in business since the thirties has closed their doors for good. Sad to see these businesses that have been big supporters of the automotive hobby disappear. It would be doubtful anyone will pick up where they left off. Another void left for the automotive world!
Last post
After 2035 sales of new gasoline powered cars will be outlawed. So it is just a period of time when the gas stations will be phased out and radiators will no longer be needed, and our cars will either be in private collections which are not driven or in museums. Sad, but times are a changin :(

I have been trying to remove my steering wheel for months now and it is just stuck on the shaft. I have tried everything short of a torch or a 1000 lb press. Does anyone have any tips?

I admit I’ve never had a stuck steering wheel, but it’s good you took it slowly. Better to do that than overuse a big hammer and forever regret it.
I think this is an apco T ford steering wheel puller. I hope I’ll be corrected if not. 0F091466-F0DC-46F7-BFEF-A4695ACBEE64.png

Does anyone have experience installing front and rear bumpers on a 26=27 Fordor or Tudor using those as advertised by Lang’s or others?

I put the front and rear brackets from Lang's on my 26 Tudor. The front brackets just needed a little grinding to have the clearance to mount in position. The rear was a different story. I had to dissemble the brackets cut a wedge in them to make the bend to to the frame holes. Welded the cut back up (using the piece I cut out) and then bolt the...
