You cannot use the stock ac setup with a aux tranny as the tranny is in the way of the cables can you? I haven’t dug into mine yet to mock-up but only looked at you all’s pictures.

I'm using a POL tank. Too convenient.

It's the 40 cubic foot tank and lasts 26 hours on our T lamps.
Ford shipped Model T No. 1 with a Prest-O-Lite tank Oct. 1908, OEM.

The POL was an upgrade but I have no idea if there was a charge, or maybe POL
furnished Ford an empty tank to exchange for a filled one at a POL station back in the day....

Describe the conditions under which the knock occurs. Is it at idle? Is it pulling such as accelerating or going uphill? Is it going downhill? Is it going along without either pulling or slowing down, just a steady speed? Different conditions cause different knocks to appear. I have an original 1925 engine that has the coil box on the head and all the 1926 items, except the vaporizer carburetor.

Another friend has one made about the same time period that has all the same items with no holes drilled in the block for the transmission cover bolts.

There must be many similar minor variations.

They look black next to the radiator, and also the sidelights look to have black rims and tops... so I'll venture to say it was a '16. And man, I sure do like that truck body.

Interesting photos although, sadly, people were undoubtedly harmed in the crashes. My observation is that the straight cut gears are “modular pitch”. I can’t comment on the helical gears.

Those are accessory spun brass hub covers - sure dress up the wheels - I have sets of spun aluminum ones on my Racer & the Centerdoor (before the Buffalos went on !)

I'd be scared to death that gadget would come loose and make all kinds of trouble. :shock:

If you are like me...you have almost no difficulty getting down on a creeper (I sorta plop) it’s the getting back up! I can get back up maybe once, so I took a half sheet of 3/4, added Rollie wheels. And spent a day tossing a general selection of duplicate tools on it.

That way if I forget a tool, something on the tool creeper will do...

Hudson, When the incoming air passes thru the oil, the air gets saturated with oil as the bubbles vaporize the oil. I assume that the more air you allow thru the oil, the more saturated the air becomes and the more oil saturated air is going to the intake and mixing with the incoming air/fuel ratio.

Well, it appears to be a modified Remy distributor off a 1927 Chevrolet K truck. It may be a well made homemade bracket.

Looks like a battery type buzz horn. When the magnet pulls the diaphragm down the points open. It may be missing gaskets that went on one or both sides of the diaphragm, putting it too close to the center part so it does not have room to move in and out. Fordwood, sets up the shop to build specific runs of parts or kits. They won’t begin producing a 21 roadster kit for instance until they have several orders to make sense in gearing up for it. It’s a bummer and patience is needed but when you do get through to them a do get their parts you’ll be pleased.

So, I inspected my removed parts and they are all present and intact. I matched up my metal ring to the options presented. Although it looks brass in color, it is in fact metal. It is too small to be part of the shield , but matches up perfectly to the retaining washer. I think it is just a remnant of maintenance of yesteryear. Thanks to all.

Yes, it's aftermarket. Fords didn't come from the factory with costly gewgaws. :D

It will work with pretty much all of them but probably better with the later steel body cars with a dash.

This is my opinion. You might like it or not. You are building a speedster, which is not a stock Model T, so the steering column doesn't need to look stock either. If your steering column is the length you are going to use in the speedster, and it is otherwise in good working condition, Then just lube up the gears and leave it alone. You can clean...

I recall the 30x3.5 metal stem EEC brand tubes when i first purchsed them in 2009 along with my white tires from Wallace Wade in TX, were made in Vietnam & the 30x3 Universal brand metal stem tubes back then were made in Mexico..
I dont recall EEC making these tubes in the 30x3 size

The facility that I talked to was in Lynwood, CA. The parent company is Curtiss-Wright Surface Technologies, which has facilities world wide. When I was working for NASA back in the 1960's we used the Los Angeles area facility, so that's the one I was familar with.

I don't think I would want to find a still boxed brand new model T and be able to get it for myself. I would be so conflicted by it. Oh I would so much want to put it together and have a brand new zero miles model T!!!!!!! However, I would so much want to keep it as the historic treasure it truly is, still in the box, untouched, undriven.

Some lugs have 2 tabs & some have 3 - I always tack weld the backside for safety.

For me the same goes for trying to straighten an exhaust manifold.
After going to the scrap yard and buying a piece of I-beam to make the jig, I might as well keep doing it. :D

The last time I checked, the only new exhaust manifolds available were 25-27 style. If your older T is a show car, or if you just want it to look correct , that wont do.

An update on my problem, the 27 inch belt fixed the problem thanks for all the pictures and information! On with the project hope to put the body back on by the end of the month.

Model T's sound great as they are, IMHO.

But as a non-T owner I was thinking what would happen to build an electric motorcar on a T frame--it's perfect. The brakes are enclosed and the tires are smaller, so two major sources of pollution (brake dust and tire fragments) are reduced. Ground clearance is of course great...a fibreglas sedan body or...

I have not done drums, but for flywheels I too use the knife edge like Allan. I took a paper cutter blade that I cut in half and mounted to a frame I can level.

That is correct. I’d use a star washer there also. Make sure the carbon button is still under the piece of spring steel. If it’s an untouched unit, it’s good advice to take the thing apart and clean the old dried lubricant from the ball bearings, and use fresh oil when reassembled.

For me, years ago did that rag stuffing, and IMO, a rag is a very poor safety blanket. Fumbled pedal shaft nut fell into a fold, and the rag twisted when trying to reach...

My December 1926 has Nickel Bolts as shown affixing that bracket as well along the top of the “dash”
All have the standard screwdriver slot. No Robertson on them or the Steering Wheel.

I have seen so many of the early style that have been ground for balancing and it is no wonder they crack when 1/4 if the throw is ground off.

The inflation calculators do not give a very clear picture of the story in comparing prices of things then & now. In recent years we have been told there is close to no inflation. The problem with grinding the cams, is that it causes a permanent change. Later lining might be available to fit and the cams have been changed.
I would recommend that you buy a new set of cams while they are still available just to have in store if that be the case.

Unless it is some rare, early head. Why not just replace the head??? They are readily available and cheap. Here they charge about $20 to surface one. Find one with good spark plug threads, good outlet threads, put it on and go driving.

It probably doesn't have to be too exact, but the roller on the end of the arm drops into the notch in the bottom wood piece when the glass is down. Put the roller in the notch and mount the arm where the bracket lands on the post. Can you find the screw holes in your old wood for reference?

Then heated the font top where the two assemblies join together until oil smoke filled the air, then grabbed the burner and font and twisted counter clockwise. They both released!
