Hi dear members,
a couple of months ago I repaired a fallen off wire in the T's generator. I figured that maybe the generator had become too hot and the solder became soft. Since then I've had no problems and the ammeter stays at 10 to 12 amps with the lights off. Under 30 mph with lights on, the ammeter shows a slight discharge. I thought since I...

Another simple option would be to separate the lighting system from the 6volt system and connect it to a separate 12 volt battery. You can then get all the power to run lights at night - recharge it when you get home.

26-7 Fan Hub removal.

First post
...Howdy, Fellers and Gals!
After a lot of wiggle room, my fan hub sounds like a jackhammer. I ordered the sealed bearing hub from Snyder’s-Who had it to me in record time. Noting the nut on the back of the shaft, I can’t seem to figure out how to remove the pulley. A socket on the end just spins the internals. Any input would be appreciated!...
Last post
Using the stock hub as example: I found a thrust washer the same size as the brass bushing (OD/ID) and was thick enough to cover the shaft end and fit inside the fan shaft cap. The purpose is to prevent the bearing bushing from spinning. True Value hardware stores with those multiple part trays will have them.

what is an original 1920 frame worth?

What is an original 1920 frame worth? The frame is straight but has a small bulge in the middle of the right side.
Is a complete, but rusty frozen engine worth anything? By complete I mean: engine, manifolds, carb, starter, generator, fan, timer and even a {coil box(in really bad condition)}
Last post
I have a 1914-16 frame that had the opposite of a bulge - it apparently had been bumped in at one place on the side rail. I know a '14-16 frame is worth a bit more making it worthy of a repair if possible, but it was pretty easy to fix.

I just adjusted my rod beatings. I removed the inspection cover on a 4-dip pan which necessitated disconnecting the wishbone ball socket. When putting it all back together, the ball socket does not line up with the pan. It is about 3/8 of an inch off. Is this normal? Is there some type of trick to get the wishbone and pan to align? Thanks.

Try connecting the front and rear axles together with a ratchet strap. Tighten the strap and it should slip right in.

Curious about a Gardner carburetor. Understand that Gardner was a company that Ford contracted with to build NH Holley type carburetors. Anybody know anything about such a carburetor? Are they just like an NH Holley and will present-day NH Holley replacement parts fit the Gardner? How do they compare in quality to the NH Holley carbs built by...

I was thinking about the Simmons/Wizard carb while I was writing my post and how close it is to the NH. Got me to wondering if they bought the rights for the NH straight thru and made some changes; the flapper, main jet, heating coil and spray needle being the only real differences. The rest of the casting sure looks like a NH straight thru, even...

Don't think they are reproduced so you are not missing anything. Place an ad in the classifieds or call them and ask if they have any. Oh, they use a larger diameter/longer rivet, those you can get. If you get used ones or if yours have worn clevis pin holes, you can braze them up and renew.

It is called an induction heater, and they do work well. The heat is concentrated on the bolt, BUT, when you have that bolt red hot, it will still heat the area near it. Does anyone make a nice mirror that mounts to the two bolts that hold the windshield frame to the body brackets? I'm not happy with the clamp on ones I have - The angles you can set them at are limited and even though I padded the clamps with rubber they tend to move on the window frame.
This is what I have

Watching this closely Tim! :)
Bob, how's the jiggle factor on that angle/hinge mount mirror? I like that.
Tim, I did mount a mirror to one of the windshield bracket bolts on the Crappy '24. Solid as a rock.
I won't show. It's part of an early 80's white GM rectangle pickup mirror. I really should paint it brown.
The other side hangs in...

I'm reading that it would be ideal for the compression gauge I use to have an upper end of 100 PSI. Searches (including Amazon) lead to none - all have upper end readings of 300. Any ideas where to get a 100 PSI compression gauge?
Thanks, Steve

Hey guys. I'm looking to make a lowering setup like the one pictured but need to make a threaded rod. I can't find a long enough bolt so I was planning to have threads rolled on each end of a 9/16 rod to pass through the perch and custom shackle. I was wondering what if any specific steel you guy would recommend.
Thanks!

I like the set-up shown for lowering the rear of the car. As for the rear radius rod being weak...if you look at the way a radius rod is made, it seems to have some real strength in this area. There is a roughly 1/4 thick bar that is split to form the two legs or the radius rod. The radius rod tube is also split and the Y shaped 1/4 bar is...

hi, looking for information on the 1927 Coupe gas cap. I have not seen any pics of bayonet type caps, only threaded.
Mine is missing the ears, they were broken off. I don't know if this tank is original or not. I do know I'd like to have a cap on it. Any suggestions?

I picked a pair of these up at an auction several years ago. I've since blasted, primed, and painted. Ideally I'd like to find two more to make a full set, but first I need to learn what type of rim and lugs are required. Save yourselves a lot of typing... Pictures is a thousand words :D
Last post
I have had one of these wheels for years. It was in the back seat of a 1924 Tudor that I purchased. I have not been able to identify the manufacturer, other than the Hayes name on the rim. The center spokes are riveted to the rim and are cast or forged steel. One the back side of the casting is the number B-AA-177. I hope this helps,

Part of a leak down test is to listen for where the leak is from. Listen at the crankcase will tell you if it is ring leakage, and listening at the intake and exhaust points will tell you if it is a valve leakage.

That is typical of those small repro 26-'27 ammeters. The vendors source from mfg. who just makes the one version for Model A's that use positive ground.
They do change the 30-0-30 to 20-0-20 face plate but the circuit inside the unit is still set for positive ground.
The meter doesn't care what direction the current flows, but the face...
