Hello! Long time reader; first time poster. I'm looking for an enclosed trailer to tow a '26 Tudor and Roadster. They both seem to measure to 75 . I've looked over the forum and tried some online searches. I was hoping for some more feedback. Would the 7 foot trailer height be enough clearance on the top? Most of these trailers have 82 inch...

That's the thrust bearing down there - use a block of wood & press it out.

But it looks safe to me...
I've heard people say that when something is definitely not safe.., and compared to some of those this is bulletproof safe as crossing the plate 2 seconds before the ball gets there...
If you climb that rigging day in and day out I'm sure you'd think it was fine... at least until someone ran into it.

Problems with vac are usually related to the tube and nut above the plate. I use a liberal amount of red heat resistant silicone sealer around all junctions and have not had a problem in years of renning. I would also recommend using the original type glands with high temp sealer on them.

Someone must have tried to remove the starter while the bendix was still in place. It won't come past the coil ring and can very easily damage the ring. The old insulation is usually very brittle and the coils need to be rewound. In order to do that the engine and flywheel must be removed. Then the magneto ring removed and either rewound or...

If the crankcase is connected to the frame, it would appear that all you have to do is support the torque tube and then put it on the trailer. Block the wheels on the trailer and drive slow. Then you can work on the car to your hearts content.

Apparently copper clad head gaskets are in short supply and nobody is certain when more will become available.

Good keyways are the first point in any inspection I make. If they are OK, I bolt likely candidates to the same axle, and select the ones which go on least. They should be less worn in the taper. It is summertime & the weather is hot, time for me to stretch some older 30 x 3 1/2 tires to mount for a roller chassis. I am looking for the mounted size car tire to use to stretch the old tire I had seen it in years back on the Forum but have not found it today. I believe it was like 165/75/14 or maybe 175/75/14?
Last post
George, with the multiplicity of tyre sizes and profiles these days, there are likely to be other combinations which will work. Take your 30 x 3.5 tyre with you and try it on against whatever you can find. The higher the tyre profile the better, as this will expand more when you inflate it, so you get more stretch.

My rear axle key ways are worn out. I am told I can get them re-cut on the opposite side of the shaft by a machine shop. What do I tell the machine shop for dimensions? According to this diagram halfway down the discussion: The keyways are 2 3/4 inches long and 1/4 inch wide but the diagram does not say anything about depth? How deep should it be?
Last post
the answer to your question is tell them to put the shaft in a swivel vise using v blocks.
swivel the vice until the taper indicates straight with the machine ways.
use a 1\4 woodruff key cutter and key it .135 deep.

Seems that most of the 26/27 window regulators I have seen are for Coupes/Tudors and are the three bolt mounting type. My 27 Fordor is a four bolt mount type. Does anyone know if this four bolt type carried over to the Model A? Having a rough time finding the correct regulators.

The '26-'27 T coupe doors were used on early model A pickups so those window regulators should be the same. jb

As to the rear-end grease mentioned in the OP - I know that the poster was joking, but in about 1964 a guy pulled into our gas station and said that the engine in his 1950 Plymouth was knocking and he wanted us to put three quarts of 90 gear oil in it's engine. We told him that most of the Chrysler-built flathead sixes knock slightly after about...

Does anyone here know anything about this Ecco Carb and manifold? I found it at Hershey a few years ago and it's near mint although not NOS (I think). Sure looks like an improved U&J with a bit smaller venturi and external adjustment.

Wow, Thanks Dan : I'm now tempted to try it wondering how it will perform compared to the many different carbs I've rebuilt and tested. The info doesn't mention performance so I'm not expecting U&J similarities. Recently I got some new Champion X plugs to swap out the old A25's in our touring car. My coils and carb are in good shape. What I found was that while it would drive OK, the...

Anyone have experience refinishing or sealing the Fordite steering wheel rims, used in 1926/27?
I understand Fordite was molded of wood chips, probably some soy materials, some rubber, and some other fillers. I also understand they give you black hands if they are not sealed, due to the material rubbing off.
Anyone had success with refinishing...

Wet sand with 800 grit, then 1000 or 1200 grit if you want a smoother finish. Rinse with water and wipe dry with clean paper towels. Don’t treat, seal, or paint with anything. A T steering wheel should never be cleaned with anything but plain water. If it gets sticky or makes your hands black, then it needs to be wiped down with clean wet paper...
