Just pondering the imponderable. Think of it ! Over fifteen million Model Ts rolling through almost one hundred and twelve years of history to date. Does anyone dare to estimate the number of miles they have traveled ? (So far ! We ain’t done yet !)
Even at the conservative annual average (20,000 miles) a person who has been driving for fifty...

Rich: OK, I will bite. It's 1.125 Trillion miles. Others may have more accurate data, please share.
I think another interesting 'fact' would be how many Model T miles, and Model T passenger miles were logged by year, 1908 to present.

Today the San Duego club had a Social Distancing Tour from the city out to Campo, a distance of about 45 miles each way. Along the way we climbed to about 4000 feet just outside Pine Valley. We had ten Model Ts on the run and one Hudson.

First time I had my model T out since about early March. Did take a couple runs to the post office to drop off some mail and get stamps, but that is all. I had a dream last night that I was driving my 15 runabout on a trip and parts started falling off.
I have so far just driven it around the block which is about a mile.
The dream ended when I realized that I had left my phone at home and woke up in a panic.
I am going to have to bite the bullet and drive it over the hill to Tucson.

I am trying to remove the rear wheels on my 1921 T coupe. One of the previous owners was a tool & die machinist. He was always trying to improve the way that parts fit. He had machined the tapered part of the axle & the inside part of the hub, they fit like a glove now. I have tried using my wheel puller with no success. Does anyone have any...

Now remember to take those wheels off once a year so you dont have this problem again. You should examine your axles and clean n regrease your bearings every year.

I drilled out the rivets of a 1912 steering gear box and now the hole is too big for the new rivets.
Is buying brazing rods is the answer to filling in the whole with brass and then re-drilling or simply put the small diameter rivet in and fill around it?

Henry Ford was already entering middle age when he began to experience his astounding success with the automobile, but I'm unclear if some things were myth or reality. Did he forbid a driver's door on the Model T because he believed it was unsafe for the driver to stand on the left side of the car in traffic? I know some export cars had driver's...

There has been a lot of discussion over time about these early wrenches.
But-in a couple of places the small hole is shown to be different and I'm now wondering what that was designed to fit on the Model T?...

If memory serves I think if you jack up one wheel, turn the crank and count the engine revolutions it takes for one wheel revolution you need to divide by 2. 5 engine revolutions should get 2 wheel revolutions meaning it has 5:1 gears. If it takes a little over 7 engine revolutions to get 2 wheel revolutions' then it's a low speed set.

I have heard and read plenty of negatives related to these early timers, so am curious what fix options may have produced working solutions.

Seller advised that I immediately rebuild the differential on my newly acquired 1916 Model T. The mileage is unknown but thought to be low (although the spindle and tie rod bushings are shot). Said the babbit spacers disintegrate and destroy gearing. How likely is this to happen? Should I be urgently concerned, or do it down the road ?

I dodged a very serious accident when my differential let go, I had it wound up peaking about 30 mph and a lady pulled right in front of me I only had time to hit the brake hard and the pinion stripped, there was no teeth left on it and no babbitt washers left in the housing.

What paint do you recommend for chassis/axles/springs?
a) brush option
b) spray option

I agree with Charley Shaver.
Powder coating is the way to go. Gloss lasts a long time, fuel, battery acid, oil, have no effect on it. Very resistant to stone chips. If you do get a chip, you can touch it up with epoxy paint to fill in the scratch. I find that rust doesn't spread very quickly with powder-coated parts, because the coating is...

I bought a (new) new day timer from one of the vendors and am working on the install. One question I have is about the black spacer washer that was included. I assume this goes between the brush assembly and the timer cover in order to provide some standoff. My question is that this spacer is very thin material, and is not solid but is instead a...

Ok, assembled it as Erik said and once squared up with a tight nut, the brush does not rub. Looks good now. Thanks Erik!

I am putting the drive plate assembly back together in our '26-27 T engine/transmission project, which is in my friend's 1924 Coupe.. There is a minor concern on my part. When I disassembled the clutch two months ago, I put all the pieces from the drive plate assembly in a box to keep them together. Yesterday I put the pieces back together and...

I drained and refilled my differential earlier this spring. I’m now driving it quite a bit more (at least until some serious missing developed last weekend, more on that later). I was pretty careful not to overfill but may not have taken into account the warmer temperatures. When I came out to start sorting out the rough running, I noted that...

We got new snow last night. It was warm enough to start the T and go to breakfast but the snow was wet and the T settled in a different spot in the back yard. I will move it when the snow freezes enough.
Welcome to the new Forum. It seems to work great.

All the neighbors went up to the hills camping yesterday and we woke up to snow this morning. While we sometimes get a last sprinkling on Easter or Memorial day or even 4th of July it's always a surprise. I guess the lawn can wait a day or two and I'll draw and play with carburetors today.

Headlight bracket attached to frame of car

First post
Will the headlight brackets from a 19-25 car fit into the frame if the frame is a 26-27?
The headlights I have are from 19-25 and the frame is 26-27. So the headlights will not
be attached to the fender. Thank you.
Last post
Short answer, No. The 26-27 cars are completely different on how the front fenders mount. Early cars the headlight mount is the fender bracket where as the later ones are separate. I have seen a late frame with the front fender mounts cut off the frame and then drilled to except the early mounts.

Yes there are differences in the roadster doors. The four holes in the inside metal panel are a different size, and the hole for the side curtain rod was changed to eliminate a bushing, and the door latch was changed. Also the hinge mounting area was changed. So in summary yes there were some changes but when I do not know. For instance I have a...

So I am confused about 4 different parts on my 1922 roadsters front axle. When I got the old parts, this is how it came assembled. I have redone the parts but am still co fused if they go like that? It is the parts that attach to the front axle spring(where it went when I got it) and attached to the actual axle.
Last post
Instructions and a caution. Be careful when installing the spring! If your not going to use the Hasslers you'll need to return the perches to their correct position. Bolts are available from for Lang's.

I was curious about a technical question. What has to be done to age a 17-22 to a 1915-16. What operations must be done to the body, firewall and fenders?
I love my '20 the way it is, all black, and will never change, so the question is just for my T knowledge.
