I am going to build a cab for my ‘19 ton truck and was wondering if anyone knows a way to move the brake lever over to the left 6’’ or so? The truck also has an aux transmission and although l can create more leg room for my 6’4’’ body squeezing my legs between the brake lever and the trans shifter pretty tight. There is a similar problem with center door sedans. I'm 6'3 , and I've always had trouble figuring out which side of the brake lever to put my leg!

Top Flap 23-25

Has anyone seen proof that FORD modified, or issued a factory wind flap for the open cars from 23-25 to accommodate the windshield wiper, which was offered from late 1924-1925? I'm aware that Ford drilled the holes for the rear view mirror and the wiper whether you wanted one or not!

Should I use molded linings or try to find old school woven linings?

We have a place in L.A. called friction materials. They are ok, but I would like to know if a softer lining is available? For the steel brake drums, I don't think the harder lining works a well. I'm talking Rocky Mountain brakes.

I was told decades ago that the formula was 20 PSI per inch of width... that puts me in the 60/70 PSI crowd, kind of like a bicycle tire... Philip,
I forgot to tell that, as I lined wood or kevlar bands, I soak them in 1/2 liter of ATF and top off the bucket till all the bands are under with fresh motor oil.
I use this mixed oil later in the engine.
Just leave them in the mixture till you need them for installation in the transmission. 1 or 2 days or longer it doesn't matter

Rim question

First post
Hello everyone
On my 26-Touring there are 30x3 1/2 tires with removable split rims. Is a 21 inch split rim from Snyders or Langs the right size for a spare wheel or should 30x 3 1/2 removable rims be ordered?
Thank you for your information
Anton
(elan2@seelmann-web.de)
Last post
That wheel and split rim in 30x3 1/2 could be for straight-sided 30x 3 1/2 tires.
There were makers of straight side tires in this size, think the Baker rim was once made with wheels to fit the T.

Likely not enough space to put the fabric in the channel like original. I have seen people put a bead of clear silicone and install glass. I have not had the glass cut yet....
Last post
Mike, do what Allen just said. Let those who deal with it daily handle it. It's worth the money. You break your glass once, maybe twice, trying to install it, now you've spent more than what it would be to let them do it. I've done two sets of windshields through the glass company and no regrets.

I inherited my Dad's 1924 Touring that he put together from old parts in the 1970s. From what I have read on this forum I have noticed that some things are not quite right. After reading about front spring perches I checked those on this car. To my surprise I discovered the the front axle has two left perches. The axle does have a proper tilt...

I finally got the new correct front spring perch installed along with new shackles and bushings in the spring and perches. I also replaced the king pins and bushings, spindle arm bushings and bolts, and the ball for the tie rod yoke. I took it out for the first drive yesterday. I have put a starter in a '14 and am trying to decide where to put the foot switch. I'd like to know, where was it in a '19? Maybe X inches between the switch and wall under the seat. anybody able to make a measurement?
Thanks
Last post
Being's that a '14 wasn't available with a starter from the factory, a solenoid & remote switch would remove any chance of accidently stepping on the floor mounted switch and possibly causing flywheel damage (if already running) or if left in high gear could result in the car lurching forward !

Should I use soapy water or WD-40 as a lubricant?...
Last post
Best way is loosen the stanchion bolts, remove the windshield frames for best access.
Then remove the seals, clean the channel to remove any obstruction for full seat of the seals. I would get new seals too. Then rub the edge of the seal that goes in the channel with Silglide or any silicone paste. with that lube easy to pull the seal into place.

1916 brass radiator, what other years will it fit?

I have 2 spare old brass radiators (both leak) that came with my 1916 Runabout and a fellow wants them, but what other years will it fit? I think 1915 but unsure before that. Could not find it on the MTFCA facts page.
Thank you,

I think they will work on all cars with brass radiators but of course would not be correct because there are cosmetic differences.

I came to the conclusion over the weekend that I should replace the rear seat springs in my '17 Touring. Based on advice received on this forum, I called Snyders Monday morning and ordered one. Lo and behold, two days later (Wednesday afternoon), FedEx dropped off a big box in my garage and I was in business. The frosting on the cake is that I...

I just received a complete set of new Snyders seat springs for my 24 Touring.
They shipped them promptly and they arrived in beautiful shape.
Can't say enough good about them.

It’s disappointing and hard to admit when things don’t work out as you hoped. I spent much of four years putting a 1914 Touring car together out of parts I had collected over 30 years. Since the body panels were far from making perfect I opted to assemble a car that looked like a barn find. It was great fun and most of it was reported on the forum...

The short pencils are normally used to plug the overflow tube when adding coolant to the radiator. I recall an eccentric gentleman who used a cellular radiator for a pen and pencil rack. There were dozens sticking out of it. Maybe that's where I got it.

Like many folks, I purchased the set of multi-colored MTFCA restoration books when I bought my car about 20 years ago. I have relied on them countless times over the years.
My latest project has been rebuilding my Ruckstell. Little did I know that the “yellow book” has been updated twice since I originally bought it; once in 2002 and again in...

Stewart Warner Model 490 Cable Suggestions
by
ModelTWoods » Wed May 13, 2020 4:56 pm
The Stewart Warner Model 490 speedometer was made with two different types of attachments for the cable to speedo head. The early (1926) just jammed the end of the cable in a hole in the head and the cable was held in by a retaining bracket and a screw in the head. The later (1927) type used a ferrule on each end of the cable to secure the cable....

Did Muncie make a aux trans for a T that doesn't have overdrive? My friend just installed a Muncie in his pickup and it seems to have super under, under and direct. I have never run into this before. I am thinking maybe built for a TT.
Last post
Very interesting. I have a TT with a Muncie, but it's the more traditional under/direct/over/reverse set up.
Being a TT guy, I can't help but wonder - If you install this super under/under/direct Muncie in a TT with low speed rear end gears and a Ruckstell, then set it in Ford low/Muncie super under/Ruckstell under would it even move?

Here is the lack of support in a friends 1919 touring.
Was there a change? Different manufacturer of body? Why does the 1920 have a support and the 1919 does not?

It would be nice if more people will let us know, pictures if possible, what you have under your rear seat to support the seat itself.

I have located a couple of articles and consulted the MTFCA Carburetor book and cannot determine the proper setting for the float. One says one inch, another says 15/16'. Last post
It is convenient to use a 7/16 drill bit, if you have one. Also, make sure the float is level with the machined surface at that gap. If the float is angled in any way, the setting will be off.

I got rid of much of the 'slop' in my steering ('24 RPU), but still have quite a bit in the steering column, before the pitman arm even starts to move. The current rear spring is missing the top frame and is a mix of coils as it is. I think someone cobbled it together many years ago. It worked but there is no way I can justify covering it with new...

It wouldn't be that difficult to shorten the shaft, don't mess with the ends just cut it in the middle remove the section, taper it well and reweld it back together.
