The parts came from a long time T enthusiast, who also liked Ford V8s, so this could be a V8 bolt? Probably will never know but he has a few in the box with the T stuff.

I sold that Model A at an auction in Havre about ten of so years ago.
The guy that has all that stuff on eBay people think is so over priced stepped up at about $15000 to outbid the guy that was going to strip it down to get the 31 sport coupe body.
It is, I think, still in his collection.
He did some research, found who built it, etc,...

Folks - although the museum is closed I encourage you to continue to shop the store. This is the perfect time to get that book you’ve wanted to read or add to your collection. Don’t forget the hats and shirts too. With the museum closed to visitors now is the time, if you can, to help support it.

Funny how “updated retrofit” solutions have come and gone, the solutions having become even more obsolete than the Model Ts they were applied to. I first became aware of the bonded band lining idea in the late 60s. At that time, one supposedly “easy” application was to utilize the bands from the 1950-52 Buick “Dyna-Flow” transmission. Nowadays,...

Spare Tire Carrier Bolt Sizes, Mounting?

Hi, all getting ready to mount the spare tire carrier pictured lying upside down on the floor.
What size bolts do the 4 holes on the rear crossmember mount with?
What size bolts do the 4 holes on the top of the frame take?
The nut is missing from the bottom keeper bolt. What size/thread is that? Is it supposed to be a wing nut or something...
Last post
And the nut size for the stud bolt is...the exact same as a demountable lug nut and probably should be a demountable lug nut!

The tinted visor is very cool. Just know that it won't have laminated safety glass in it, and while trailering at highway speeds, there may be a real risk of it shattering. If you use it, you should really consider replacing the glass.

When I overhauled my engine, I found a second number on the left side (bottom right - see photo): 52318. What does this number mean?
The engine number at the water inlet is C 171352; a Canadian production.
Last post
The Canadian engine blocks used casting dates through to the end of production whereas these dates were discontinued in USA production starting in 1922. For whatever reason, the Canadian blocks revised their casting dates around 1923 using an alphabet letter to designate the year. “A” for 1923, “B” for 1924, “C” for 1925, etc.

In case you are wondering alcohol forms a 'low boiling azeotrope' at the end of distillation so the only way you can get 100% alcohol, no H2O, is through chemical extraction means. The hard thing to believe is that I still remember that from 37 years ago.

Could also be that the timer case spring is bent and not putting enough tension on the timer.
I would guess that the vertical disk is the shield that goes behind the timer, it would have no effect on the brushes placement in or out. It remains stationary and the time case rides on it.

Ask them if they have another identical tank in stock. If not send them a picture of the damage and what it would cost fix it and pay you the cost in repairs. Get their money first of course. If they want it back there is a reason for them to want it. If your a good haggler and can keep from losing your cool you might be able to make a deal with...

O.K. I'm convinced. I'll try to talk my friend into having his coil ring rewound professionally. Thanks to everyone for the leads and recommendations as to who should do this.
Looking ahead once I receive the NEWLY rewound coil ring, I intend to recharge the weak magnets before reassembling the engine. I have done this with three 12 volt car...

What are folks using to coat magneto coil ring wrappings these days? Predictably, some knucklehead in the past tried to remove the starter from my friend's 1924 Coupe engine and tore through the windings' coatings in that area. Plus, the remaining coils could use some freshening up with a sealant. They appear to be an original whitish-gray color =...

I spoke with Mrs. Lucius in Ohio this morning. Our ratty old magneto coil ring will be sent later this week to her husband Bill for exchange with a rebuilt coil ring. Many of you have been following my adventures restoring the 1909 Touring. Well this last week I have been trying to get it started.
Way back in 2017 after the motor was rebuilt I did actually use a later flywheel and hogs head and had the engine running. Not for long but it seemed ok.
Now after all the bodywork and other items are completed,...

Tony,
After messing with the radius rods on the rear end of your car, you should check that the rear wheels are properly aligned.
Fellow club member Less V's 13 touring was wearing out rear tires way too soon. He found the rear wheels had considerable tow-out. He was able to correct it by adjusting the radius rods.

Has anyone noticed that the 1926 - 1927 Wire Wheels have two different size hubcaps?
I started to put one on today and it just about fell through the hole.
The diameter size difference appears to be about 1/4 inch.

Need help reading part drawing on a Ford racer

I’ve looked at this and looked at it for a few years. I believe this is either the top or side opening into the false tank used on one of the Ford Special racers. This “tank” is used to hide the back cylinder of a racer motor that extends through the firewall. I don’t have a photo of the other side, but am sure #4 cylinder exhaust pipe extends...
Last post
Tim, yes, I believe that’s the 228 motor mentioned. I hope someday someone finds more drawings, to better differentiate the racers.
Scott, I had not thought of the the “pipe” idea from the drawing. I believed all along that it’s either the faceplate, as tim point to above (red arrow), or the faceplate for the exhaust pipe on the right side. As...

I guess this is how these springs are supposed to fit.
DSCN5035.JPG
There's no room for the back spring to go any lower. It looks as if it's too tall, since it's several inches above the top of the body panels. But it's easy to bend down to where it's even with the body panels.

So is this what happens when the upholstery is...

Here's a closeup of one of the spring clips shown in Mark's photos, though his are in much better condition:

If they don't come with/on the new spring it wouldn't be too hard to fabricate the dozen or so needed.

I’m betting that with the increased diameter of the wheel as opposed to the motor pulley it gave that pump a workout. Thanks for the picture. 8F0834CA-2178-493F-8B1D-D2A037609BEB.jpeg

While perusing my Ford Dealer and Owner magazines I came across ads for the Gould double reduction axle for Model Ts and Model TTs. In 50+ years of playing with Model Ts I've...

I'm trying to figure out how it worked, and what ratios it provided.
I guess from the text that it gave a 50% reduction. That would make it similar to some other devices, and would be consistent with using differential-style gearing. It's also consistent with the recommendation to use 'speed' gears - I guess that means a 3:1 CWP.
The central...
