This would be for a fabric weather seal/anti squeak cushion for the hood. On the outside.

Here is what Mike's is offering today. I am guessing yours was an after market accessory.
Both numbers:B 8275-B and 18 825 (Connection, cylinder water inlet) (4cyl) Pass, Comm are listed as 28-34. I believe they are the same for all years and all Ford offered.

The Lloyd Flanders company still makes wicker products in Menominee. I doubt they’ve made anything else as neat as the wicker T.

#3 above can be augmented by a very slight schmeer of high-temp silicone sealant on the engine side of the copper gasket. I would guess somewhere near 10+% of all old T motors could benefit from this, though probably less than 1% actually get treated with it. Poor running seems to be almost a bragging point for some folks, feeling like they are...

Glen, your glass shop can mount it in the same stuff they use on modern cars. Sikaflex makes a range of products for the purpose. The advantage over the brass bedding strip is the glass is sealed in the channel, water cannot get in and rust is ruled out. I would suggest black will be the best, as most of the frames are black in the first place.

Both of my '13s have Rand's windshields. They have a stud that goes through to the end with a cotter pin hole for a castle nut, which enables the owner to adjust the tension on the spring. The nuts are brass plated steel. I like to use a brass cotter pin for these.

Powder coating is not the answer. Powder coat is a form of paint. When water gets into the rim/tyre assembly, it will still cause rust as the paint breaks down under constant moisture contact. It may take a little longer, but they will still rust. Galvanising is the best answer, but ask yourself, How come very few original Galvanised rims show up?...

You may not need to, either. An awful lot of very early cars never saw the service necessary to wear out a transmission.

Nothing good can come from this, you know ....

First, you'll plug up a bunch of space in the shop. Then you'll waste a whole bunch of
time and spend a lot of money. And all the while, you'll have this burning sensation to
go drive it about an waste more time !!! And it never goes away !

The TT shifter is held on with 4 bolts, the car shifter is held on with 3.

There are more differences including size but that's the basic way to tell.

It's handy that Kevin's shop is less than 10 miles from Snyder's Antique Auto Parts.

I ran into the problem too. Bought some of these things from McMaster Carr but can't remember the part number. I think they we called press nuts or something like that. I ground out the stripped one and welded in the new one.

Great T photos but the 3-wheeled Morgans got my attention!

Just my own opinion, but I don’t think the “purest” of Model T purists can hold a candle to guys who put mirrors under their show cars ! :lol:

That very early 1909-1910 hub cap wrench was purchased outside and perhaps the mfg. did some finish to it, seems no early records on that detail.

Practice for a tool of this nature, for supply to automotive market would be some finish IMO, and certainly no finish and left to rust.

Best guess would be black finish.

Great rebuild work, you made good from a pretty nasty smash. Nice looking T now.

As for the front end, your photos shows the correct '19 and later spindle arms, for the under axle wishbone set up.

But your spindle connecting rod or tie rod is indeed the '18 and earlier, and will be too long to get any adjustment when using the '19 and...

I would pull the hand brake back and take a look at the little levers on the brake backing plates that the rods attach to. With the brake fully engaged, the little levers should be vertical or maybe a little leaning towards the rear of the car. If they are leaning towards the front of the car, that's an indication that your brake shoes, drum, or...

Just some other discussions for reference:

In the pharmacy we always sprayed the counter tops and the counting trays with 70% alcohol. Do not use the 91% alcohol. The 70% alcohol with penetrate the cell walls of the virus better than the 91%.

If mixing aloe vera with the alcohol, use the 91% so your solution becomes about 70%.

Ok Dan. I stand corrected! 😀 That design is older than I imagined.

I scoured local welding shops for a tank embossed with the name, had the offset valve and, did not have a gauge in the bottom.

It was painted a variety of colors. I simply stripped it with paint stripper, smoothed it out, painted it silver and, got a repro decal from Restoration Supply. It looks great and works great.

Leo, I’d have to check, but I believe John Dodge was on the board from the 1903 start. Gray died and his son came on the board in the summer of 1906, near the same time Malcomson sold his shares, mostly to Henry Ford and I believe a few went to Couzens. I'm with David D. and Dan T. on the use of bubble wrap. I had some exhaust collector parts (not a T) Jet-Hot coated a couple of years ago. I ran bulb #1009 for 30 years, many times driving across the San Francisco Oakland Bay bridge, dark going both ways. Plenty of light above 20 MPH. I tried a couple of other bulbs before I found the 1009s and they would burn out at speed the 1009s never burnt out in 30 years of occasional use.

Hi. Took some pictures of my 26 roadster. Seems the sides are parallel sideways and up-down. 200mm X 440mm.

As always, I just use good old lacquer thinner. Once I used Strip-Eeeze, it worked pretty good too, but I just like
lacquer thinner. Overall it's probly cheaper too. Lots of good advice here just the same. To each his own.

I appreciate the comments from folks knowledgeable about coils. I'm planning to use the coils in my 1913 touring. I currently have 4 screw brass tops in it with an original coil box. I will likely replace the capacitors and replace the points with new ones in order to save the old points.

The paint or powder coat is thick and will do all kinds of funny things when you first tighten the lugs. Trim the paint off the countersink and all is good. Off the wheel, not the lug nuts.

I view the addition of a high quality ½ ID 6201 ball bearing and armature shaft spacer to the starter as not an operational performance enhancement, rather it is a long-term reliability enhancement. Let me explain

I have been using some gasket material from the McMaster gasket assortment set that is about the same thickness as the original Asbestos gaskets were. They apparently don't sell it separately but it is vegetable fiber who it is impervious to alcohols.

I cut them on a gasket cutter and save the center cuts for making other small gaskets.

As I recall, I install the flat floorboard first, then the under-pedal board, and finally the over-pedal board. My '27 is a touring car, but both Snyder's and Lang's list the same floorboards for open cars. I have had no real problems installing the board with the deflector, but there is only one position that will work. I kind of roll it around...

While Rustolium does not stay shinny that is what I used. Has held up just fine for over 15 years. Wire bushed the frame, used Rustolium rusty metal primer and black over that.

If they've shrunk, they might be old Lester Tires made in the good old USA (Pennsylvania) ! We have them on our '14 Touring & I have a set of extra fronts when the time comes.

Remember not to tighten things up right away. Let the goop 'sit and set' a bit before final tightening.

Why? because you will squeeze it out if you go to full tightening right away and then have no benefit. But don't forget to go back and tighten properly before final assembly!

Remember not to put it on too thick, that just leaves a lot of lumps...

Yes i brass plated any hardware that was brass plated originally. I agree that the top padding has not aged well. Easy to fix. We had it down plenty of times on tours.
