Years ago, after lapping/polishing the sediment bulb valve, I used bar soap on the valve.

It seals and lubricates and is not affected by gasoline.

No problems so far.

My father has done the same thing in the past on his Model T.

Bar soap is an old trick and everybody has a least one bar of soap in the house.......

Get a some steel cable, fray one end and pull/push (scrub) it through one end to the other. Flush it out with gas. A new line may be quicker and cheaper though.

I have used wire like Hank above. I have also used a resistor (see picture). Depending on the current draw resistance values may need to be changed. In Canada all new vehicles have had DTRL since I believe 1990.
Older vehicles are “grandfathered” just like seat belts etc and don’t legally require them

When I did mine, the plywood compressor I used was about four inches all the way around bigger than the seat spring. I used two 2X4's for the bottom somewhat close to the edges of the spring to distribute the force more evenly.

I think if one were to look at a copy of the Ford Industries they would see how Large Ford was and brass tag Tool Checks are still easily found on E-Bay. Auto maker's still stamp tools such as make and dept. :D Bud.

The most important thing is to make sure that your front axle leans back per the diagram, providing the correct caster angle. :)

No, but if it wasn't starting perfectly maybe it would make a difference. If I understand this correctly, higher compression reduces the ability of plugs to make a spark. Maybe a slightly smaller gap would make for a better spark under the higher compression.

I have rounded up cranks using emery cloth, more of an emergency repair or get you by for a while. Another thing to check is barreling of the journals, this is where the crank pins are fatter in the middle. This is caused from twisted rods. Those 21 inch model T split rims are made of fairly soft steel. They get warped easily by misuse of rim spreaders, tire irons, and other pressures applied for a variety of reasons. Wide track were made for southern roads where they grew cotton. The cotton hauling wagons were wider, so the road ruts were wider. Ford made Wide Track cars to accommodate southern roads.

The aftermarket brakes Norm recommends are a nice accessory you can add later if you want, but for now just get the transmission assembled so you have the transmission brake, and get the parking brakes working. With a runabout you may find that's all you need.

Very neat engine ! and interesting valve configuration, a kind of F-head but with the inlet valve on the opposite side of the exhaust, although actuated by the camshaft on the other side of the block, not like a T-head which usually has two camshafts...

As others have posted, the triangle form (Famous Ford 3-point :P ) inside the cover ....defects the oil to the bands or the screen plate.

Thanks, Scott. This Z head is supposedly 6:1 CR with stock spark plugs No anticipated psi readings were included in the instructions. I should hope the compression readings are higher than 55 psi after installing this new head! With the stock head, the best cylinder was just under 50psi. I was hoping the new Z head teamed up with re-lapped valves...

Regarding reproduction dashes for the brass cars, many seem to be made from plywoods faced with cherry (?) cabinet veneers. Not a problem in the short-haul, but as furniture grade sheet stock is not required to do much more than look good, soft-wood interior plies, often with multiple voids, are not up to taking the stress which the steering...

Hi Tom- Cal Cams was located in Oakland, CA for many years and Brad was the original owners son. They have been out of business quite some time. Their cams were always decent quality and performed well. Although the business is gone, I'm still using several of their old grinds on my cams.
