Tuning a batch of Kingston High Bridge. This model coil was used in Model T from 1909-1910. There are a few original coils in this batch and the rest are brand new coils. The brass bridge was cast and machined and new wood boxes made.

It should not be necessary to turn down the bushings. However variations in spindle bores may mean some bushings are tighter than others. When pressing them home, stop a little from fully set and blow out any swarf under the head created in the process. Then press fully home.
I tight bush may need more reaming than another. It will all even out...

I am looking for some tops/lids for Boyco gas/oil/water running board cans. I tried to find the chafing dish fuel cans as suggested in the past but they are not the right size on the brand I found.
I talked to Howell's Sheet Metal who makes new cans and holders but they have not found a source for the lids.
Any suggestions?
Thanks

If you have lathe access you can make lids from billet material.
I made a set for a different brand from brass. Knurled the outside.

I am getting ready to reassemble my 26 speedster and thought I would take a good look at the frame. However, the frame in front of the rear crossmember is about 3/8 inch wider than frame behind...
Last post
Forget the short straight edge. A taut string line will give a better over-all indication of any sag in the frame. Takes only a few minutes to do, and can be quite revealing! There is no better time to make corrections than when the frame is bare.

Well, it's not a TT frame, and interesting use of a mating plate to adapt a car torque tube, ya wonder what happened to the TT torque tube given it would have to use a TT drive shaft (shortened as well), not a car ds, to spline into the worm.

That rim is indeed a Canadian rim. The give away is the pair of holes in the side of the rim each side of the split. These are there to accommodate a special tool used to split the rim. Thinking outside of the box:
It's a tool for ease of removing and reinstalling the hogshead using your choice of hoist, gantry, cherry picker, rope, chain, etc. There is an eyelet or hook that bolts to the top of it.
The stub on the right is a handle. A stub is not required for the left side because you can use the pedals as a handle.

I have published a Worldwide index of Model T Ford clubs... which will no doubt have some entries missing :D
This index includes the websites of each Club, contact details and addresses where available.
If you know of any that need to be added, please let me know — please ensure you include a website address, physical address and contact...

Have a lowered 1913 Speedster project. Looking for different ways to mount a friction single lever shock to the rear axle.
I will mount the single lever friction shock parallel to the rear frame cross member.
These shocks have no name or markings. The shock has 2 rubber discs between the shock body and the adjustable tension lever. I am wondering...

Hi Dick,
Google Dan Erceg speedsters. Dan is a artist when it comes to building speedsters & most have Andre Hartford friction shocks on them.
Also look @ Ed Archers Yellow #4 it has Andre Hartford's on it that are a great installation.

Slight miss and loss of power

Last week my 26 sedan ran so great but this week there’s a slight missing in the exhaust and a noticeable loss of power. And when I shut the engine off there’s a noticeable vapor coming out of the choke. 🫤 shorting out each spark plug seems to have no noticeable change in engine sound.

David.... Clean the coil unit contacts and coil box contacts with wire brush till they shine. Box contacts can be pulled out slightly to increase pressure on coils for better electrical connections. May have to use wood or cardboard strips to wedge units for tighter fit. As far as spark plug gap I use 0.025 . Lastly, you may want to have someone...

No one thinks of the Wattage a generator can produce and neither the voltage or current is the limit alone.
You can safely double or halve the generator output, although very few people do that change.
So, for 48 Watts, a 6.4 volt battery can charge at 7.5 amps from the generator.
Wit a 12.8 Volts fully charged battery, you can adjust the...

Hello everyone. A very sad day here, Dick Hautzinger passed yesterday. I was very fortunate to know him for quite some time and travel to many swap meets, shows with him. I was always surprised by the amount of people that knew him wherever we traveled. His knowledge of Model T’s was endless.

The time has come to pass the torch so to speak. I have taught my grandson the methods of babbitt pouring of model T main bearings and the procedure of boring and align reaming the bearings. I have been doing babbitt work for 40 years, but the time has come to share the knowledge with a younger person.

Hi Jack,
That is awesome! Always nice to hear one of the younger generation is interested.
There are times when I wish i would have had kids so I could pass down stuff too as my Dad did to me (he was a mechanic at a GMC dealership all the years I was growing up), but it was not in the cards.
God Bless & Happy New Year

I was in a local IKEA store and noticed they had cocoa floor mats for sale. The mats are perfect for the rear floor of 1910-1916 touring cars and are very reasonably priced. They are large enough so that they can be trimmed and fitted to the floor and look to be durable and nicely made. If you need a correct looking rear mat, this may be the...
Last post
The way they are made today allows for trimming. In the era of the T the mats were likely thicker and the fibre punched into a woven backing. That means the mat would fray to pieces if the backing was cut. They had to be made to size,
Thanks for the lead Russ. We have Ikea here too, so they should be available to us.

There are enough parts to build up some good chassis to be sure. If you’re a tinkerer this is Model T Heaven. Model T Haven sold all parts they had. Could this be some of those or someone else’s. I’ll bet there are good rear axle Hyatt bearings in those rear ends.
Some nice Model T’s have been built up from worse parts than these.

Asking for a friend If a fellow was to find an all original 13 runabout actual barn find what would you think the body would be worth? It has a little rust through in one corner but the wood and everything else seems solid. I'm trying to work a deal and It's taken apart. I will probably part it out. What do you guys think?

Constantly inspecting and cleaning up parts, I noticed something odd about my fan hub.
The belt hub itself spins true. The fan blades themselves spin true. However, the hub shaft and blade flange are spinning 0.097 off center!! The rivets for the blades were drilled true to shaft center, not with the flange.
Begs the question as to production...
