I've spent a lot of time tidying up the wires on my 24 Touring and am wondering if there was anything that the factory did to prevent wires from chafing where they go through the firewall in the hole above the junction block. (see photo)
Last post
There can be. A lot of the under dash wire sets made some years back were made for sedans that required the longer loom and are too long for open cars. This is one of those one size fits all but were wrong.

English T Wrench? - King Dick
Replies: 7
by
A Whiteman » Wed Feb 27, 2019 4:35 pm
First post
A question for any English members who can help: Is this an English T tool kit wrench - or an aftermarket item?
It would be uncommon for Ford to allow his brand on an aftermarket item though?
In New Zealand most Ts are Canadian and early ones US, so we usually have US and Canadian tools. I was intrigued by this one I found in a 'junk shop'...
Last post
Earlier British tool kits that I am familiar, MGTC, or Vintage Bentley, contain a King Dick slider of the earlier pattern.
I have a friend who has worked on more T's and A's than anyone else I know. I will now refer to him as King Dick Slider.

Chris, was that cr for a giant or giant super? I believe the giant super was a little higher in cr. It has a minor crack in the water outlet jacket area. A good media blast, pin and stitch the jacket crack, and it should be good to go.

The repro 'outer sleeves' for the TT rear axle are pretty good. However they do not come with the grease cup hole or the locating dimple in them.
What do you do?
Well, marking where the grease cup hole should go and drilling it to size is easy enough when you use an old sleeve to locate the hole correctly. You actually need that hole to use the...
Last post
My experience drilling the sleeves for the grease holes was difficult. I burned up over one bit per hole, and they were the hardened bits.
The dimples were easy, just build up a little stick weld, not enough to distort the inside of the sleeve, then file the weld down to a dimple.
Also, I had the sleeves held in a vice to drill and a couple of...

James, effectively that part extends the length of the throttle shaft. It also allows the linkage to be rotated on the shaft for a different orientation. On US made carburetors for model Ts that are fitted to RHD cars, the linkage has to be repositioned. This is usually easily accomplished, as the throttle arm is usually just clamped to the shaft...

Dan from my understanding the rails on the later frame are shorter due to the way the later crossmember is riveted to the rails. The earlier frame rails are longer. The riveted 3 piece gears are more problematical to balance. Not all pieces are perfectly centred before the gears are cut. When the three components are put together there can be quite a variation in their weight. When you separate parts that have silicone used as a gasket there is always a film left.Spray the surface with brake clean and it will loosen up and you can scrape it off. I am not a purist but really helps seal things, especially in an emergency but we all know Model T,s never brake down on the road away from home.

I'm very biased on this subject. I prefer the genuine item made in the '20s, mainly because of the simplicity and the ease of operation. There are no holes to drill or special tools to install them, and they work backing up too. There are no rods, just a simple pulley/equalizer for braking with a cable.

Does anyone recognize this body?
COACH WORK BY LAWSON ANTIQUE AUTO WOODWORKING HIGH POINT, N.C.
I'm looking at a titled 1924 Depot Hack for sale.
It's a good looking body, (IMO), very nice hardware, and a professional looking paint job.
The chassis, fenders, hood, etc. all have a beautiful, original looking patina. Engine serial number matches...

It sure has the right look. Hope you get it

Cleaning an aluminum hogshead

I need some advice on the best way to clean an early aluminum hogshead. My 1910 T has the square hole aluminum hogshead and it's pretty dirty (oily and oxidation). Aside from taking the hogshead off, what are some recommended cleaning options? I'd be grateful for any advice!
Last post
I don't know if they still make it, but I used to have some Aluminum Naval Jelly I think it was made by Duro Co. that would clean up a degreased but stained hogshead I would think. Jim

How to Identify a Straight Through NH carb?

Can anyone help me identify an NH carburetor and what is the way to ID a straight through carb?
Is it as simple as being able to see through it? Or are there salient features from the side to look for?
Thanks,
Jim

The flapper would be located behind the choke butterfly and would mount/pivot on the small rod attached to the brass screw that can be seen in the photo below:

You can see the small rod (horizontal) in this photo. This would normally be behind the choke butterfly but that has been removed in this photo.

Everbright Protectaclear on Radiator

I have read several threads over the years claiming how great the Everbright Protectaclear coating is on brass if the proper preparation is followed. I have not seen feedback on the durability of the product on the radiator. Has anyone tried this coating on their brass radiator? A bit nervous about how it may perform with the heat of the radiator.

Here is a link to the thread I wrote almost two years ago on the topic. And the car still looks great!!

I am thinking I must have missed getting a 2019 Calendar from Lang's....Don't see them listed on the site. Dang. I have had one every year offered and I must have missed getting one before they sold out. What a bummer. My fault for a late start this year. People at work really seem to enjoy them and are always flipping the pages.

Nope, they are out of them. I talked to Steve earlier this week. I missed my chance.
If anyone has an extra they would like to sell, I'd be interested.
I am getting questioned at work why I don't have my usual Model T calendar up. I notice people don't want to thumb through the muscle car calendar like the do the T one.

I have searched for information about Victor # 2 lights, particularly side and tail lights for a 1914 Touring. I found a picture posted in 2009 by Rick Gunter that showed a tail light with both a red and either a blue or green round lens. Victor # 2 Lights Rick Gunter.jpg I have found other Forum posts that state that the tail light body was the...

My 14 (Sept 4th) has the same cowls you describe. But the font (kerosene tank) on both the cowls and tail has a brass top and black steel bottom. I can not tell in your photo if the bottoms are black or brass. Nice job working on those by the way... My tail light has red round back, green round left side and colorless round right side. Hope this...

Nobody has started a dream list or parts wanted thread yet this year ... ????? so Ill go first.
I need a pair of 1914 gas headlights. and a pair of headlight forks. They do not need to be mint condition. Just something I can use as-is or with very little work. A pair that has already been converted to electric lights will be OK (even preferred)....

I need someones help. I’m looking for one or a pair of good solid rust free front top irons for my ‘23 runnabout. Anyone out there going to Chickasha willing to keep an eye out and pick some up for me should the opportunity present itself? Mosterman@eastman.org

On Labor Day the engine in my 1912 Model T touring froze up. I took the engine to Jack Putnam in Bluffton, Ohio. The engine was back in six weeks. A previous rebuilder had failed to hone the wrist pins in the aluminium pistons (covered in earlier fora). The rebuild was extensive as the engine had been run for most of its 100+ life, essentially all...

Dennis Carpenter Ford reproduction products has this style of Ford coat of arms emblems in stock. They were used in different but closely related styles until 58.
The crest style was the most common. He makes the plastic inserts for crest style moldings that were on the hoods of Ford cars and trucks in the 50’s era. I guess Ford thought the crest...

On June 2, 1906, Henry Ford drove the author to Pontiac, Michigan, and back. It was a 49 mile round trip and the only temporary loss was Henry's cap and the crank handle.
Car was built in October 1905 and had 30,000 miles on it.

I got this from a friend who bought obsolete Model T and A parts from Ford Dealerships n the 1950s. Any idea what era the sign may be? The measurements are about 12x24. The Ford script and circle are embossed into the wood...which is solid except for a ply cut into each end to stop it from warping.
