I installed a new u-joint as part of my axle/torque tube rebuild and with it, a new pin to secure it to the driveshaft.

I used a punch and hammer to peen the pin on both sides but I never really got it peened the way I wanted it to be. It's good mind you, but not perfect.

I'm wondering how much damage this will do if it comes undone and slings...

My 15 runabout has a steel hood.
Would the 15/16 steel hoods have these plates?
They don't seem to be needed.
I can see them on an aluminum hood because it is softer and could wear.

This comes from a non-starter hogs head I am using on a '17 restoration. I am wondering if anyone has seen this type of clutch shaft arrangement. I have 6 hogs heads in the collection and they are all riveted. Anyone know if it's factory or maybe a clever mod? IMG_0017 .JPG.png

I found a bunch of these and my car had three on four of the tube stems, I wanted to ask if this was standard Ford equipment and should be on every stem?

Does anyone have an original example of the 3546 Steering Post Bracket Block used on the early cars, specifically the 1913's? My 1914 parts book clearly shows one that goes inside the frame and is rabbeted on each end to avoid the two bolts.

So trying to start my 26 fordor with a holley vaporizer.. it will fire for 3 seconds and shut off.i crank until it seems I am going to have a heart attack. I had picked up this tool from ebay and have now had the need to use it on a friends car, and let me tell you it work very well. I still put rags around the work space but this holds the washer and nut ,got things started it was great . I believe they are available at most suppliers, best money I have spent on a tool. I decided to start up Speedy to get the juices circulating. I do this occasionally during the winter months, or when I can't get out and drive. After starting using the starter, I wanted to hand crank to see how easy it was in these temperatures. After hand cranking a couple of times, I turned the engine off then on again and got a free start. So...

The Model T Touring/Pickup in the movie Giant has some sort of receptacle on the dash.
It looks like a spittoon. Or it could be an ashtray. Looks like it swivels to empty it over the side. You can see the top half of it in the closeup, and it looks like it's tilted over in the wide shot.
Does anyone know what it is?

I recently bought a Model T owned by the same man since 1947, so he was experienced.

We have a problem of starting the engine, when the engine is cold. With a warm engine, there is no starting problem. The ambient temperature on our Indian city is around 30 degrees Celsius (about 85 degrees Fahrenheit). Can anyone advised where the problem is.

Good morning, I have a 1911 touring that has firewall to windshield brackets that are steel. There is light surface rust, and the firewall is weathered so it looks original.

Is this correct? From photos of restored cars, they all look brass. Were they originally brass plated?

I have what I believe is a set of 7 leaf short style rear u bolts, and 26-27 frame with a 8 leaf spring, I know the lengths are different between the two styles but are the inner diameter of the u bolts and the outside diameter of the 26-27 rear cross member different? Opened that pretty Ford marked envelope with the shaft inside, slid the pedal on the shaft only to find a very loose fit. The new shaft is .62375. The old shaft is .62575. That 2 thousands sure messed up my day. I’d post a picture, but I’m not that smart.

Have been looking at a car which was born on August 12, 1926. From everything I am reading 1927 production was from August 1926 to May 26, 1927. Does that make this car an early 1927 model year. Owner says it's a 1926??

The radiator badge on my 1924 Citroen is soldered in place and must be removed to nickel plate the shell. I'm afraid to re-solder the restored badge on the re-plated shell. Any suggestions? A badge restoration guy says to use silicone adhesive.

I’m in process of putting a new wood kit in a 24 Fordor body. Overall it’s coming along well. The old roof wood was in pretty bad shape and not really measurable the way the other parts were. I need the outside width dimensions of the roof. Front back and middle, as that will get me an idea if I’m in the ball park. Thanks!

I spent the morning with my brother-in-law helping him to take the motor out of his 1925 tourer. This was necessary because he needed to do a valve grind and two head bolts had broken off, one being right at the back!

We got all the usual stuff out of the way ready to do the lift but there was no way the ears on the pan could slide forward along...

My primitive way of removing a rear wheel hub flange did the trick this morning.
Posted this problem several days back, with great suggestions.
Since I don't have a blow torch, I heated the assembly in a bucket with a fire for about 20 minutes. Next a nice cool down with the hose, followed by several whacks with the mallet.
Mission: accomplished.

First off I'm new to Model Ts. Totally ignorant. I have the remains of a roadster body that I was told is a 23. The firewall is missing and in trying to do some research I find two width firewalls. One 23 and three eights wide and one 28 wide. When I measure across the body opening I get 27 inches. How does this work? Thanks.
