Measuring piston clearance after rebore

Hi All,
Well I am slowly progressing, crank is now good as are the con rods all at 1.5 thou clearance with no binding. They were a pig to balance, I ended up doing twenty measurements and averaging…
So I thought I would check my pistons. These are new cam ground 0.20 oversize. I told the machine shop that bored the block to go with 0.0035...

I know it is a bit of a drift from the original topic but while on the pins the biggest problem is those who fit the rods the wrong way around, now that's a time bomb waiting to happen. 000_1199.JPG

With the touring season kicking into high gear, I want to mention a oft-neglected check that may save you big trouble and $$. When was the last time you checked the tightness of your rear axle nuts? In my opinion, loose nuts are the main cause of damage to the taper of your axles and even your wheel hubs. I've seen scored axles, wallowed-out...
Last post
Chris, sorry for not checking with you first. The photo popped up on a google image search. One of the guys in our club forgot to install a cotter pin in one of his wheel nuts. After a short drive the nut loosened and the wheel fell off...on a busy street of course. Nobody thought to get a photo - they were too busy dodging cars.

To seal a 3d printed parts they can be sealed using you choice if insulating coatings. Spray clears or brush on and let it soak in. For those that have access to it conformal coatings work great. Does anyone have a Yale running board toolbox that looks similar to this? I am trying to determine if the top of the lid is supposed to be flat, or have a bow or crown in the outward direction. Mine is dented, and I want to make it right.
Thank you,

The tool box I had but later sold was a nice near mint box. The top wasn’t flat but had a very slight crown. It had very nice paint and patina and you could just see the slight crown and each corner to crown X that was pressed into the top when it was made. My thought is that it was that way to keep it from collecting water on the top. I never...

I'm trying to piece together a set of top irons for a '26 roadster. I've got the back two irons for both sides, but need to find the front two. I reckon my irons/wood are going to be held by #8 or so round head machine screws with nuts, appropriately covered. I can’t see me alone wrangling these things on top of my anvil/vise trying to peen over rivets, but we’ll see!

Aye, there's the rub. Written language can be read in different ways, some of them unintended. My post was written in exasperation, not condescension. :)

By the attached photos, the outer cup developed a crack and had to be replaced. Once the old one was removed, I dry fitted the new cup.

Purchased the complete set, from a very knowledgeable vendor....

However they skipped the rounded ends step it was one last step to get the brackets out a little easier and faster. It could be the squared ends were machined or ground off to the rounded ends was the step that was elimited. Or maybe stamped as mentioned.

Older post from 2019 with dimensions of one T'ers wood work to make one of these contraptions :)
Usually a small adjustable wrench, fitted to the quadrant, will lift or bend up the quadrant in a spot that 'tightens' the lever against the grooves in the quadrant arm to prevent slippage.

I've worked on speedometers and their drive components for a few years and DO NOT recommend using a support strap on a Model T. The Model T uses cables that range from 48 to 63 and this length is just too short to need a support strap. The cable should hang freely from the swivel to the head. When a longer cable is used than what is recommended,...

I’m thinking that’s a low cowl T in the picture but not sure of the big shiny high class car.
There is a big difference in the 2 cars prices even it that era!

If my NH experience is any indication, Viton tip needles sometimes stick. That's why I prefer original type needles. If Scott makes a float valve for your carburetor, that's the way to go.
Ditto, those tips tend to hang for some reason.

My friend said Langs did not have any.
Texas T used to have a set to use with the 6 bolt to 5 lug 26 wire wheels adapter on a 1924 or earlier T.
They don't show up now.
This T may only be driven around his 1916 acre farm anyway and the brake shoes are the type with liners, so he don't really need any disk brakes.

Was given this by a friend. He said that the person who built it said it was for a Model T. The only thing I can think it would be for is the pan bolts. One end of the long tube is a 3/8 drive, the other, near the wrench, is a socket. What do you think?
Last post
There was a back in the day tool, made that was just for tightening pan bolts, and I have one of those tools. It didn't have a square place for a extension, ratchet, or break over bar. Instead it had a long handle incorporated in it so it was completely operable without any other tools. I don't have a picture of it handy.

On removing the old seals if you are not saving them, I read here one time to use 2 gutter screw run thru the metal of the seal , spaced about 180 degrees apart, and use them as pullers.
That won't work with these seals. Too deep and you can't reach them. That technique works with modern lip seals with a metal insert that are at the surface.

My 1923 touring has some bad wood, poor repairs from 50 years ago, and a few other issues. It is a steel firewall, 2 man top slanted windshield low hood car. I am contemplating looking at a 1922 touring body 2 states away while going for a graduation and could bring it home and make some swaps. I know the windshield stanshions are different, and...

Apparently 22 and 23 use the same frame. I expect either body will fit it. The steel firewall should also fit both, as it was used as a replacement part for the wood ones.

I am building my last model t, it is going to be a 15 speedster. I have eliminated the mag and i am changing to 12 volt system. My question is.....
Would you go with a distributor, either from model t ranch style or bosch style, or would you go with a coil box and 4 coils and a timer? Looking for performance and reliability. Ease of maintenance....

These bands were in with a bunch of spare parts and have no box or brand on them. They are a fairly ridged unlike the cotton or Scandinavian bands I have dealt with. Does anyone know what type of material they are? BF4772B9-62EB-4912-AA94-6ED2640AAC84.jpeg

Back in the late 60's - early 70's, there was a fad of using fork lift/heavy equipment clutch material for T band lining - way too hard in my opinion ! I've driven with them and removed them from folks' cars - pretty tough on drums !

The photo caption said this was a blacksmith shop converted to a garage around 1915. Supposed to have been in 1915 and the owner had a
Oldsmobile dealship.
The front springs look different than a T but the car other T similarities. Looks like the engine is a T. Might have been posted before but not sure.

I'd stick with green antifreeze at 50/50 with distilled water. It works, and it works well. In regions where freezing is a non-issue, 30/70 mix might be adequate.
If you're really concerned about corrosion, adding an overflow tank to exclude air and making every reasonable effort to assure a good head gasket seal will get you a long way toward...

Also, here is a link to the whole archived 1922 Montgomery Wards catalogue, which is a neat resource.

Keith, it is typical of those found on our locally made bodies on assorted brands of cars, sort of Hardware shop items for cars. Often the only difference was in the handle and/or knob.
