What lubrication for Original Roller Timer?

Hello.
Because my old Roller Timer is heavily worn out, I organized a replacement one and want to do it right from the beginning.
What lubrication is best directly inside the roller's bore?
Personally I am inclined to spray in some motorcycle chain grease , because it has high adhesion and viscosity. It is also very thin during spraying and...
Last post
The new roller timers available in the past,( I cant speak to current production, but I doubt their quality has changed) are/were junk new out of the box. Inside contacts must be perfectly round & centered, they were not. New rollers commonly wear out quickly.
This is why those in the know don't run them. Look @ what the Montana boys run -...

Looking for History on “Giant Speed Equipment”

Hoping to build a thread with any history on the “Giant Speed Equipment . I’m guessing they were active in Los Angeles area in the 50s or 60s? I picked up a Gemsa flathead for my T, and noticed how similar the lettering was between the Gemsa and the Giant.
Last post
This old Giant Equipment brochure was posted on Facebook back in may. Judging by the early phone number it’s 1950s, since they changed to the 7 digit phone numbers in 1958-59.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but these rims were a one year (1919) deal. Then Ford went to the rims with integral lugs. These rims are also used on Buffalo Disc wheels, but with a heavy retainer ring that went around the entire rim and the retainer ring was held in place with 4 lug bolts. Just FYI...........

Clogged 21 inch valve stem

I have a tire issue I never ran into before. I have a good 21 inch tire that was low in air. I pumped it up to 35 Lbs and all was fine. I then checked the pressure with a tire gauge and the gauge read 0 PSI. I checked and no air will come out or go in. Same when I removed the valve from the tube. Tire is aired up but no air will go in or come out....
Last post
The tube shifting in the tyre happens when the tyre is underinflated. The valve stem hole in the rim and the same in the felloe will tend to hold the valve stem vertical, so when the tube wants to shift it will tend to tear away from the stem. The same can happen with metal stem tubes. The correct tyre pressure is the answer.
On a 21 flat based...

Yesterday, I went on a HCCA tour with my ‘14 touring that had more hills than I expected, and while I had plenty of fuel to cover the distance, there were a number of long, steep hills that caused some issues. The first long hill resulted in a couple of surges as the carb almost went dry, but then the road pitched to slightly less steep and the...

While I loved the Holley G that came with my '17 I learned it had some drawbacks. When compared to a NH, the NH actually produces more power. Add to that the Scott Conger Full-flow valve and most of the problems you described are eliminated. FWIW, we did a side by side dyno test of a Holley G and a NH on the same engine with the attached results....

OHV question - oil pressure to rocker arms?

First post
OK, I am used to running with the oil-soaked felt pad in the valve cover with my iron Rajo head, but as I am setting up my new (to me) iron Roof 8 head, I am considering routing some of the oil pressure up there. At the business end of things, I know that one runs pressure to a hollow rocker arm shaft, with an outlet at each rocker arm bushing....
Last post
Mine are pressurised via the rocker cover hold down stud. Stands are in steel and clamp onto the shaft so shafts can be used for oil ways.

Good to hear Mark. Some thing I learned the hard way is only use a file or aluminum oxide paper, real sand paper ( silica sand ) can turn into glass
when exposed to heat ( arc ) making it a insulator. Like I said the hard way!

My hood support rod keeps moving rearward. It only takes about 10 miles of driving for the rod to slide off off the cradle on the radiator. Is this normal? Is there a common fix?
Last post
Here is how i fixed it: remove the rod and grind a depression into it about 1/2 inch from where it disappears into the center hinge. Then reinstall it and place a small dent into the underside of the hood hinge right at the spot where the depression is. It now stays put and can be removed later if needed. Problem solved.

I’m working on a 1926 Roadster I just got, and the guy gave me an extra axle assembly.
On the end of one of the spindles, sticking out ahead of the axle is this thing. Anyone know what the heck it is?

Andre's bracket is the alternative to yours. Note his has no threaded hole and taper on the end. His bracket clamps around the extended nut.

Norman, the Canadian produced cars were made for RHD and LHD markets, so both front doors operated. It is a squeeze to get in past the handbrake, but it can be done.

So I finished another week at my parents working on the model T with my dad and sister. I feel like it’s mechanically and electrically good enough for now so we started on getting the body all together. My dad had bought this partially restored 35 years ago but life kept him too busy to work on it.
A couple of body related questions that I’ve...

On the Improved cars, the cowl (dash) is more robust. And more body to frame bolts.
On those '26-'27 models, one of the two firewall bracket to frame bolts should be left off otherwise the frame to cowl (dash) bracket can be cracked. Ford made an Engineering Change in fastening those bolts to frame in 1925 (See Ford Service Chapter 11,...

When did Ford incorporate the diffuser inside the transmission cover? My guess would be 1925, It is cast into the cover inside just under the top of the inspection cover.

According to the encyclopedia, July 17th, 1924. Look under Transmission Covers.

Look at the pictures of this brake material. I got this in a load of stuff from a gentleman that cleaned out Ford dealerships in the 50/60. It looks like 26/27 brake material. Did Ford ever sell it in bulk? The roll is held closed by a small tack in each end. See pictures. I looked in some of my parts list and don’t see it unless it’s the 10 sets...

McMaster Carr sells this brake lining in assorted thicknesses & widths.
You can get exactly what you need without having to trim the width.
I prefer the woven lining on RM brakes over the solid, hard, chalky grey material they come with today.
Besides being woven, you can get it with brass wire woven in. ^
That hard lining from everything I...

Is there a good, better or best ranking with these or are they mostly the same?
Thanks.

I need to find out the tire valve that was used on the 26-7 Ford wire wheels originally. I also want to know if this valve was carried over into the 28-9 Model A production.
The reason for this question is that the die hard Model A guys were interested in getting the correct valves stems for their cars. They contacted Schrader, as I recall, to see...
Last post
Good Stuff! I usually like to keep my stuff as authentic as possible, however, I have a perfect replacement for the 777 valve stem. It's still a Schrader, but as noted above is 1/4 shorter. The valve stem is an 888. It uses the same bridge washer and nut. The reason I prefer this 888 is that most likely reduces the weight of the valve stem.
