Hello,
I'm new around here but just recently came into possession of an interesting truck body that may be of value and interest to this community.
I have been working on a Farm/work truck project resurrecting a 1960 Willys Jeep truck. It was a factory Cab Chassis which is how I found it in a Junkyard. I have been seeking some sort of body to...

If I found a truck body like that, the hunt would be on for a TT chassis in similar condition. There are likely to be more of those than bodies in this well preserved form.

Can you please explain the best way to attach the choke on the inlet to the mixture control rod, so that when you pull it up, it will act as a choke when starting, as it did when it was interfaced with the original vaporizer carb? Do any of the vendors such as Snyders or Macs supply a proper linkage for this?
I know that Ford never issued a kit...

I like to hear about the feasibility of using brake rods to the AC brakes in lieu of the cable set up. Im thinking about removing the parking brakes and having the rods from the handbrake go to the AC brakes. Any suggestions, recommendations, cautions, etc. appreciated.

Here’s an original A-C setup that uses rods. Note that it still uses an equalizer, which imho is better than rod setups that do not.

I'm trying to sort out some confusion on the Tudor door panel finish. Most Ts that I’ve seen have a single material used from top to bottom which makes the replacement simple.

Chris - your description is a perfect match for what I have seen during my searching. The horizontal stitching on the door cards doesn't demark a change in material used but rather serves to hold the single panel of seat material from sagging.

I agree with Allan. Just don't do it. Eventually the brass will tarnish underneath the coating and upull have a heck of a mess. I actually enjoy polishing my brass, usually every 4-6 weeks. Radiators more often mainly cause they're so easy.

I have played with the idea a good bit and will be building what I consider a 10-12 tourabout. A 6 inch drop is about all you want. Beyond that if you get a flat you will be putting your motor on the ground. A touring body won't work because the lower you go the flatter you sit which makes the rear seats useless. What do you all think about the 2 different types of lining??
Last post
Best modern woven lining is Green Gripper. If you can get old stock woven lining, that would be good as well. Be aware of modern woven lining as it is pretty hard and not work as well as you might prefer.

So I did not have access to a pan jig. There may be a jig in the UK, but I could not find one. So I started by hammering the pan holes back to straight with a dolly as people over tighten the pan bolts and that makes it hard to sight things up. Then I sighted...

Some type of governor or distributor shaft for a 30’s era car or close to that time frame. Another one of those parts you might find in a trailer load of parts and pieces you might see at a swap meet.

Question: Can the clutch pack be tightened without pulling the engine? I've had the engine out...
Last post
I think you will find the above instruction opposite what should be. With the clutch in neutral the levers should be pushing on the spring, however when in high gear, they should be a bit loose. The spring holds the clutch in high gear, so it is tight against the clutch disks. The clutch pedal or lever compresses the spring so that the disks slip...

LED Conversion for Brass Headlamps - Feedback

I have the LED conversion lamps (-purchased from Snyders) in my '14 Runabout that use the acetylene burner bases to mount them, and 12v battery power to illuminate. While I have owned them for maybe 3 years, they likely have only been illuminated for maybe 3-4 hours of total time. During OCF Gaslight parade this past weekend, one of them has...

Do you think the units you are showing have a greater lumen output than the new units that I posted a link to?
Brent,
There are several different units available with the same base configuration. They appear to range between 250 - 900 lumens, and 3W - 10W.
I have two types here, one was rated at 3W, the other at 5W, I don't recall now what...

What do you guys use to face off the brass spindle bushings? I bought one from a guy who used it one time to do his car, he bought from one of the Vendors. It wont cut anything!! It doesn’t look damaged, just very dull. No sure it can be sharpened? I don’t really need one at the moment but will someday.
Last post
I use an original dealership tool. It works nicely. BTW, I only “face” the flange of the lower bushing so the spindle fits in the axle yoke. Why ??.. Because the entire weight of the front of the T rests on the top bushing flanges and I want the most ‘meat’ there.

I've had a sticking needle valve in a Holley G. I've cleaned it with acetone and reinstalled it in the carb, but still wonder - what causes the stick and how can I prevent it from happening in the future?
Last post
FYI: For cleaning the seat use a bamboo chopstick. Sharpen the end with pencil sharpener, spin the chopstick with your hands like you are trying to start a fire. This with clean and polish the seat. Dan

Radiator...time to cut it shorter.

After double checking the radiator shell and convinced that it's OK and taking measurements of the radiator and sure that it's too tall, it's time to cut.
There are new radiators available, which would also require me to purchase a fan hub, then tax and shipping comes to about $980. So why not try and salvage what I've got first.
The gap is about...

Vern, I'm glad I waited to ask how it turned out. :) I was voting for you too!
You had the guts to try it and that is paramount. Very cool!
Excellent post Chad! Nobody said we couldn't.
I had my own little foray into a radiator as a 16 or so year old. The IH truck rad been thru the rad guy's shop.
100 scraped up dollars later, it still leaked....

Sorry to be an absolute leech, but it seemed like there was no better place to ask.
This lamp was picked up from Goodwill years ago and was catalogued as an oil Model T side lamp, but despite tons of searching I can't find any that quite look like it.
Most I see have the latch on the top center and presumably open by folding down, whereas this...

Just to clarify though, you mention that this isn't a Ford style lamp, yet the linked catalogue (that does indeed show side/tail lamps much closer in style to the one I have), lists them as Ford Gas Lamps . Of course, this is just some other third-party shop owner that is reselling these lamps as noted in the listing.
I guess they listed them as...

Anyone know the dimensions and location of the bumpers used on brass windshields? I know they are attached somewhere to the lower frame to keep the upper frame from banging together when lowered. I assume they are made of rubber and are screwed into the frame but that's just a guess. If anyone has a photo I'd appreciate it.

I had both a Rands and an Automatic ‘11 Torpedo windshield. The Automatic had the screws in place for the bumpers and the Rands had original bumpers intact. Here’s a picture of the Rands.
Here is a photo of a late 1910 square tank Torpedo courtesy of the Detroit Public Library showing what appears to be a Rands windshield and black bumpers.
