I have a very old Texas T Parts 12v Hitachi alternator that came on my 1915 Touring. It does not charge the battery. It has two wires leading from the rear, one from a post terminal and one from a spade terminal that appears to have a diode. Does anyone have one of these alternators? If so, I would like to know how it should be wired. Thanks....
Last post
In this application, you can only make a pulley so small to speed up the alternator. Motor pulley is a fixed size.
Gear driven is fixed. You need to start with an alternator capable of sufficient charging within these fixed limits.
Claims are that the GM 1 wire unit will work.

Soooo this project as been going on for many years. So you think finding parts for 1920's cars are hard to find.., try 1920's boat and accessories. Not many left, were not built of quality as boats were throw away and trailers were built on a budget. So making the ultimate Model T towable accessory. A lot of fabrication is an understatement....

It is no higher than a conventional boat trailer, actually less by an 1 1/2 and the length is perfect! It has a 1920’s accessory trailer 6” drop axle too.

I had originally posted this car in a another day in another thread on N, R and S aftermarket bodies. I didn’t want to really hijack the thread, so I figured I would move that to its own thread for some history, as several asked about it.

If it will fit in your garage with the top up, fine also if you don't trailer on an open trailer especially at high speeds. Leave it up. I used to have a Model A Phaeton and I didn't even have the saddles on it. I left it up all the time.

Hi all! I just installed my rebuilt motor and transmission. I started it today after a couple of un satisfactory tries yesterday. The motor ran well. I ran it for about five minutes and shut it down. I found a puddle of oil under the motor. Maybe 1/2 a quart.
I had snugged up the bolts to the inspection cover prior to this because they were...

Trailer parking for OCF

First post
Friends, we have been going to OCF for years but this is our first time taking the car and trailer for OCF. Question for you veterans: where can we park our trailers? Is it somewhere enclosed on the grounds away from the public? Wondering if I need to buy a lock for the trailer if it has to be kept in the outside parking lots. Thanks!
Last post
Fairlane parking lot has been usual for me. Not a great area, but easy access to Henry Ford. If you have an iPhone, get an Airtag and hide it in the trailer. All trailers should have a lock, even if it is in your back yard.

Somebody obviously did their homework. This T is from the 2010 western video game Red Dead Redemption. The game takes place around 1911. There’s a number of T’s depicted. When the opening credits are rolling one Is being craned off a riverboat. The Pinkertons drive one around quite a bit too. The engine sound is realistic and the Rear axle and...

Notice it doesn’t say “Ford” on it. Also, Pinkerton’s sued Rockstar for using their name and portraying them negatively

It’s been too hot to paint, so I took a little side job this past week. Started with a bare frame, running board brackets and a speedster kit a customer wanted setup. After sandblasting the frame and brackets we riveted everything in place. Of course they are bent and twisted, so I made a jig using John Regans frame and bracket dimensions. It’s 1”...

Nice work! I really like the jig for the running board brackets.
Getting those brackets straight is definitely the first step in getting all of the sheet metal lined up.

I am a newbie looking for a brass era car and saw this one and I am trying to figure out what it really is.
Here are three links to the car listed.
It is advertised as a 1909 but I don't believe that is correct. The ad lists the serial number as #71326. Would that be a 1911 car? Whatever the year model it is I don't think it has the...

Not to say you couldnt restore what there & have an early looking T, but realize resale would be of interest to a very limited # of buyers.
You would have to get it for a WAY better price. My guess would be around $4K.

Ideally the odometer would show mileage cumulatively and by the trip. Many of the ads brag on wonderful features I would be unlikely ever to use, but none of them show or mention any odometer...

Yes, you can't get any better than the simple Garmin for an unclutter display at a cheap price.

I had to work on the transmission of my car, and decided to check the engine.
I checked the pistons, and cleaned the rings, without removing them. I opened the holes in the piston skirt.
The cylinders were looking good, and I did a rapid honing with a 3 stone tool.
Since restart, the engine is smoking and consuming oil like hell !
All cylinders...

I see the reproduction TT rear axle outer bearing sleeves available from the usual vendors are described as not having a dimple or grease cup hole, so my question is how are people making that work? I do not see myself easily drilling a hole in a hardened sleeve, and adding a dimple is impossible.

I recently installed a period style battery box in the 1915. Not much info available, so it's mostly guesstimates.
A wood box from a craft store is attached to a wood insert on the rear seat floor. Battery wires pass through drilled holes in the box, wood insert and the reproduction seat pan that came with the car. Cloth wires and flag terminals...

Nice setup. It looks like it fits in the box, hides the modern cells and makes all the connections. Your box will look great when it's done. Print is a neat approach.
I think the wood box handles are to lift it from a steel battery box. Seems to be normal for battery Fords, not sure of other cars.
Mark, not much by way of battery placement and...

I stripped out repro lug nuts on my '26 wire wheels. Seems lug nuts are some kind of stainless non magnetic alloy that is soft and strips easily. Chrome plating flakes off too, resulting from a very poor plating job.
Nuts stripped out and would not tighten down. Failed at about 30 ft/lbs torque.
Good thing the stud is harder and better quality...
