We are headed out on a cross-country tour, and will be going to the Age of Steam Roundhouse, which apparently IS 18 minutes away from Stutzman's wheel shop. Doe he allow visitors to drop in just to see it?

That Roundhouse is totally awesome. And Sugarcreek has a bit of notoriety in it was the setting for some romance movie, the clock and wall were featured in it as well as other recognizable areas.

Clutch spring adjustment
Hand brake lever forward until adjusting bolt just drops off the cam
Adjust clutch fingers to a clearance of 13/16”

Have you installed new parking/emergency brake shoes? When I restored my car a few years ago the shoes were made extra thick by the cam to make up for a worn brake cam. I have another TT Ruckstell question. :| Anyways, I was taking off my shift lock mechanism. I took all 4 bolts out and the shift lock assembly was still stuck. I ended up prying on it until it came out. In the process of pulling it out, it threw the sleeve that switches the gears out towards the backing plate. It was pretty far back in the axle...

Has anyone used the wireless LED bicycle turn signals available form Amazon for around $60? They are rechargeable, said to be bright and easy to install (on a bicycle). If adaptable to a Model T without drilling holes, running wire etc. this could be an ideal safe solution to driving in traffic.

If you go with magnetic lights, be sure the magnets are plenty strong. Especially if you drive country roads, not all magnets will keep the lights in place. After the HF magnetic trailer lights failed, I made my own tail/brake/signal lights that bolt on.

Garry Houser, Henry’s Hoosiers first president passed away last night. Henry’s Hoosiers was the newly formed host club for the 2008 Centennial. He also helped organize all of the swap meets at Homecoming in Richmond. He was one of the main people behind the construction of the first building for the MTFCA Museum. He will be sorely missed.

I spent the morning building the tooling to burnish size triple gear bushings.
Plus re-sizing worn original Ford bushings.

I actually did that exact thing once. So. Dakota National Tour...some of the toughest touring I've ever experienced. Loooooonnnnngggg grades in low worried me mightily, but everything worked out fine. Adjusted low and brake every day at lunch and changed the oil every evening...all of the above for all 5 days. So, I purchased some parts from the vendors for the day timer with a bushing.
I greased the felt to help stop leaking?
The pin would not go into camshaft hole unless I screwed down the nut some.
When I turned the hand crank, things started looking bad.
Is the felt the wrong size?

Look @ the throttle plate. It should be completely closed with no stop screw engaged. It should parallel the flange. In this position the motor would not get fuel to run. The throttle arm/shaft may have a twist in it such that the plate wont close all the way.

The Fire Museum of Greater Chicago has received the donation of a beautiful red 1913 T fire truck... IF we would remove it from a 13th floor office lobby! I just got hickory spokes for a set of wheels from one of the major suppliers for a set of wheels. One of them had a knot hole in it which they replaced. That should have been a sign. They were the roughest cut spokes I had ever seen. I sanded for hours and primed and filled heavy wood grain. I just pressed them in and the hub fell out, not tight...

You can get in a dangerous situation stalling on a hill with curves and trying to back even if you’re an experienced driver. Going down a steep hill can be just as dangerous too.

My youngest got me a set of Clymer books over Memorial Day weekend. One of them is a reprint of the 1926 Model T salesman's guide. in it, there is a listing of Ford publications. One of them that is super intriguing to me is Power and Haulage , which is dedicated to carrying the story of the Fordson and the Ford Truck into the industrial field....

As of today, two tires to Milwaukee is $578. Delivery has gone up.
The price of the tires did not change. 149 pounds each.
I am sure some of this is due to the exchange rate as well.

Dave, wait till you fit and inflate before you worry about size. Universals are sold as oversize, so the OD of them is likely a little bigger. The Blockleys I saw on our last national rally were looked al least quite adequate, fatter than Wards and Firestones, and the tread to the edge makes them look even more adequate.

I installed a head and don't like the head bolts.
Can I replace the head bolts one at a time and torque them to spec?
I have not run the motor yet.
Just start in the middle and go in the torque pattern, pull out one bolt and replace with the new bolt and torque.
Is this ok? Or am I looking for trouble?

If you are just trying to get it going to see if it runs, add a 1-2 thousandths Shim under the tight side and try the same or a little more on the loose side and put a piece of plasti-gauge across the bearing surface and tighten it down and then pull it back off and check it. I took of my crankcase service cover today and also removeD my front suspension ball joint to get better clearance for the pan to come out but now that I am done and have put the cover back on, the ball won’t seat all the way and the cap cannot be bolted back on with the springs.

I bought my Blockleys two at a time. That kept the cost per shipment under the tax threshold so I paid no import tax and had no import forms to fill out. I didn't buy the second pair until after I had received the first pair, so there was no chance of the two orders getting combined into a taxable shipment.

I recently had the pleasure of seeing the Strategic Air Command museum in Ashland Nebraska and the Model T speedster the Golden Eagle. I took some pictues
of the car and when I got back from our trip I found the MTFCI magazine that featured the Model T Golden Eagle. I hope the pictures work. They're from a phone.

I have McLaren wire wheels on my 1915 Runabout and need to change the tires out. The tires are standard 30 x 3-1/2 and the wheel diameter is 24 . I can't find any rim strips that diameter and was wondering if any of you with wire wheels have used rim tape with any success or know of a supplier with the right size rim strips.

I am not sure what clutch I have in this car. It’s possible that it has a Watts clutch. When the clutch spring is depressed, the fingers are loose. Given the condition of everything inside, it looks like the engine has been through a recent rebuild. I doubt that would be done with a notched drum. But, no way to know unless I take it apart.

The Subject line says it all.
I have several low and high hoods that have the hinges rusted enough that they bend the tabs.
Any solutions?
I know - penetrating oils of some sort, but these are past that.
I've thought, but not tried, putting a wooden block on the back and hitting the top with a mallet or such. I haven't tried much yet.

Here’s a neat photo of a Sodawater delivery TT Truck. Use to see NuGrape in this Central Texas area but that was in the 50’s -;60’s but not much after that. The angle of the shelves kept the bottles from bouncing around a falling off I would imagine.

I posted this in the wrong place so I moved it here. Has anyone run an auxiliary transmission with a low, straight, and overdrive without a low gear drum or band in the transmission and shifted with the auxiliary? This would turn the high/low pedal into a straight clutch pedal. Pulling the drum would reduce the rotating weight of the transmission....

If you are just looking at gearing ratios it may be worth mentioning that what looks good on paper inst always the easiest to drive. A warford can be shifted easy between d to o and back but nowhere near as easy from u to d and we'll d to u could be very noisy. . .Of course this is assuming original equipment not repro.

I just noticed that the fan is contacting the front wiring harness which is not attached to anything. Can some one please tell me or show me a photo of the route of this wiring harness goes? What does it connect to/clip to, go over/under so that it won't be in the way of the fan.

Was the clutch shift keyed to the tail shaft throughout production or when was the keyway eliminated? Got a transmission recently that the person was destroying taking it apart.

I ordered the metal door trim parts for my 26 touring but can't figure out where this (arrow pointing) goes. The door latch itself seems to be too big and i would think it is to protect the door panel like other two part do. Anyone have a picture?

I read some years ago to save the rings from the exhaust/intake gaskets. So, I did.

Maybe the dark cloth or substance came on the 26-27 improved cars. I installed a new roof on my 24 Coupe that was an original car and it didn’t have the dark substance or cloth. That’s my but car not sure about others in that year frame.

We purchased a replacement starter and it came with paint on the Bendix gear which was badly pitted.
Our original Bendix is in better shape.

We drive, eat picnics, make some stops and always (almost anyway) end up showing the cars to interested, and interesting, people.
Today was no different. Started our tour where we meet up by showing the cars to a lady and her niece who stopped by to see the cars.
Had a usual picnic lunch, more showing to a guy. Next an ice dream stop..spent lots...

This may well be the shape of things to come.
The Colorado DMV required a VIN inspection on our Milk Truck. Appointments are required and are filled for a minimum of 6-8 weeks in advance. Yesterday I took our '27 Milk Truck Delivery for inspection yesterday.

Does anybody know what material was on the top edges of the enclosed cars before the factory put the outer wood strips on? It looks like some kind of tar or tar paper or oil cloth. It is black and is used as a filler or void material in areas where the welded pieces of steel are uneven. It also helps to seal out moisture along the top...

I started with a barn found seat frame, possibly 1910 Era, maybe from a Model N maybe not. Using a partial original seat back upholstery and a lot of liberty I have finally finished a seat upholstery project. In the post about cleaning the oil line, Why can’t we drill the timing gear to allow access to the oil line. Two holes 180* apart shouldn’t weaken the gear should it? Just asking.

I don’t know if a small flexible cable could be had in the 20’s but since air was available that’s what was used in the manual.
The Ford Service Bulletins for April 1919, suggest the using of an old speedometer cable as a snake to clean out the oil tub. Ford may not have had speedometers with cables, but other automobiles of the period did.
