In 1982 we visited the Museum in Los Angeles and saw this Red Model T. I heard more about it later but don't recall it's connection with the MTFCA. Perhaps it has been talked about in previous threads. Their cars were displayed with terrific backdrops at that time. Now the cars are in a warehouse in Gardena so I heard.

Soon, hopefully, I'll be beginning the teardown and rebuild of my 25 T Touring car. There are lots of tools already in my arsenal as I've been a gearhead since old enough to hold a wrench for my dad. That begs the question, what tools particular to the Model T should I acquire?

Been wanting a T for 20 years. Have an A but wanted a T. Bought on local, 1927 Tudor, “Dad drove it in the barn, I watched him”. Yep it likely did on about 1960. Seems the 10 year old boy didn’t know or hear the rod knock that made them park it. Didn’t hear it when I cranked it by hand before buying.

Still have a few bugs to work out but I’m almost there. This was a 23 touring converted to a wood saw by my wife’s great grandfather. They swapped the cowl and engine from a 26. Here are some old clocks for cars, boats or an accessory for whatever I think
The center Waltham runs well and has a 8 day movement. It’s a very well made brass clock.

The other two are Westclocks that need work.

So were they accessory items for cars or whatever? I’ve seen the smaller Westclocks in old cars but not sure about the Waltham....

The Waltham that I have wasn’t running when I got it out of the closet. I Hadn’t thought about those clocks in a good while.
I unscrewed the back and used a pencil to give the small spring loaded wheel a push and it started ticking. You have to put it to your ear to hear it. It’s ticking ok and I was surprised how good it ran....

One easy test is to see what the voltage drop is whall cranking. That will indicate loss due to bad connections in the power supply between the starter & battery, including the switch. You still need heavy cables to carry the amperage.

The front spring in my Touring 1926 has no holes for the oiler. Is that an early feather? Does this still fit for 1926?

Can someone give me the mass (height and distance of the eyes) for 1926? Or are they all the same?

Is there a trick to removing the upper front door hinge from the car. I managed to remove the bolts and I can get the hinge to move a little bit but they don’t want to come out of the slot!!

This afternoon I set about stabilizing a wandering rear fender. I wanted to remove the fender clamp and chase the threads. I had a devil of a time trying to get a socket on the nut. Eventually I got the nut off with a loose-fitting ¾ open end wrench. The clamps have a ⅜-16 thread, and I found that this nut did too. But an ¹¹⁄₁₆ socket was too...

I got one and it's really slick..no more struggles. I took a suggestion from fellow forum poster Royce and lined the inside of it with electrical tape so rim won't be marred up up. I put a little grease on rim to facilitate attaching it. Great idea!

I am about to install the top and side curtains of my 26 Roadster. At what angle should the windshield be? Is it straight up and down, or does it have a rake to it? If it has a rake, how much should it be?

Go to my post of Jan 21/19 called Improved Open Car Surgery and Build. Scroll down to where I show the vertical straight edge. The forward edge of the front roof bow aligns perfectly with the hinge pins. These cars were designed on a graph with verticals, horizontals, and compass drawn arcs.

I know that in 13 before Canada started making their own engines they got them from US and ground off the “Made in USA”.
What did they do for lights? Did they just USA lights or what.
I have a Canadian 13 I am thinking about what lights I need. Came with USA so I may just use them.

I have a 26-'27 headlight bucket that has these small half moon tabs that stick out in the travel arc of the headlight bezel pins. The tabs prevented the bezel pins from seating properly. As a result I lost an original blue lens from the bezel working loose.

I have a very old Texas T Parts 12v Hitachi alternator that came on my 1915 Touring. It does not charge the battery. It has two wires leading from the rear, one from a post terminal and one from a spade terminal that appears to have a diode. Does anyone have one of these alternators? If so, I would like to know how it should be wired. Thanks....

In this application, you can only make a pulley so small to speed up the alternator. Motor pulley is a fixed size.
Gear driven is fixed. You need to start with an alternator capable of sufficient charging within these fixed limits.
Claims are that the GM 1 wire unit will work.

The first photo (1915) shows a 1914 T from the wide crossmember and rivets in rear end.
The second would be 1909 or 1910 by the buggy rail and butterfly rear fender bracket. Lamps and acetylene generator still look OK.

I have this cast iron license plate bracket that also has provision for supporting a kerosene tail lamp. Hard to read but appears to have a patent date of 1912? Is this a model T part or something universal?

Looking close at the picture I’m not seeing any kind of fencing for a Rodeo other that the cars in a big circle! I’m wondering if it was a Rodeo or if they were just working a few cattle. Maybe branding the livestock or just dehorning them. Whatever they were doing the cattle would have put some dents or get cut up running into the cars....

Soooo this project as been going on for many years. So you think finding parts for 1920's cars are hard to find.., try 1920's boat and accessories. Not many left, were not built of quality as boats were throw away and trailers were built on a budget. So making the ultimate Model T towable accessory. A lot of fabrication is an understatement....

Early and later manifold studs, when was the change? Did they use a longer stud with the vaporizer manifolds or was there a change in the manifolds with the pre 15 motors or the 15-25 motors. I have 3 long and one short and want to put manifolds back on a 26 motor.

The consensus seems to be some time in the 1924 model year.

My January 1924 car came to me with the earlier style clamps, but I changed them over to the later style based on the preponderance of opinion. I still have the early clamps in storage in case the consensus changes. :)

Finally getting around to installing my AC brakes on my 15 T. Do I need to remove the paint from the outside of the hub where the AC brake shoes will contact? My gut tells me yes, to keep the paint from gumming up on the brake shoes, but wanted to ask.

If it will fit in your garage with the top up, fine also if you don't trailer on an open trailer especially at high speeds. Leave it up. I used to have a Model A Phaeton and I didn't even have the saddles on it. I left it up all the time.

I have seen this problem several times in the past. I take a thread file to the spindle to clean up the threads. A helical wire brush on the inside threads of the bearing may help as well.

I've got a bit of an issue with a sediment bulb. When fully tight, the nozzle faces the two-thirty position, facing forward. I don't want to force it around further on account of the tank soldering, but when pivoted back to face directly forward, it has a tendency to seep gasoline.

Is this a common issue? Were the tank threads originally so...

What's the best way to repair a stud in a front hub for wire wheels that spins after you get it tightened down a bit? Any sneaky tricks???

Small tack weld on the back side.

I tried to re-swedge the stud.......

Unsuccesful. Had to resort to a tac weld with the stud compressed under tension.

There was another stud that had turned but was still locked in place. That one got a small glob of weld too.

Car is back together.

T runs smooth and strong in low range, not even a skip or hiccup....
T once shifted to high range falls on it's face, gagging and hesitating viciously.

I was cleaning up some studs today and wondering where these 2 types were used. Both are 3/8 x 24 threads per inch.
The first one is 3 1/4 inches long and threaded 1/2 inch on one end and threaded 5/8 inch on the other.

The second one is just short of 2 11/16 and threaded 5/8 inch on one end and 1/2 inch on the other but it has a ridge around...
