Wanderng speedometer swivel?

First post
The swivel for the Stewart 100 speedometer on my 1915 runabout is attached to the spindle arm by a clamp. Even with the nuts tightened to almost before it breaks , the clamp wants to wander and disengage the gears. So I'm wondering about installing a 2696B spindle arm, That's the one with a hole for mounting a swivel. But I wonder about the fit....

I've had some good results tightening things like that by putting coarse grit, like coarse valve grinding compound, between the surfaces and then clamping. Coarse emery cloth might do as well.

I am up dating my AC coil tester (pictures to follow). During the work on the much looked down on buzz box tester, I wondered just how many other cars from 1907 to 1927 used the tremble coil for ignition?
And before the HCCT was introduced, just how did the coils get to be adjusted, not for ultimate performance, but to work and do the job of...

Many early gasoline vehicles and many stationary engines used buzz coils. They work well on single cylinder applications and on very low speed multi-cylinder engines. In the case of engines with 4 or more cylinders operating at speeds over 600 RPM or so, time to fire of each individual coil can become an issue, with the result being that each...

Sometimes when we get started restoring a T it’s really tempting to add all new parts as much as possible and especially the fasteners. You can find cans of nuts, bolts, radiator springs and etc in boxes on trailers and pickups at swap meets from others who gathered them up from home or wherever.

Your spring has a totally different profile than the 7 leaf spring. This design was adopted in 1925, They added one more leaf, and lowered the profile 1 inch. You need to find the correct spring.

Lubricating the Differential
Do not put too much grease in the differential housing. The housing should not be more than one-third full. The differential is supplied with the required amount of lubricant when the car leaves the factory.
The oil plug should be removed about every 1,000 miles and more grease...

The last time I looked the Kevlar bands are now 167.50. But they do cut them 24” or at least the ones I bought for 65.00 a few years ago were. Maybe the Kevlar material has gone up for a reason like everything else. Hopefully the prices will settle back down and the Company will start making the Scandinavia type bands again.

Hey All!
LONG time Model T owner here. I grew up with Model T's as my dad bought his first one 4 days after my parents adopted me at 4 months of age (45 now). Long story short, I've had T's for years, but about four years ago I lost my job in Arizona and had to relocate. The relocation meant I had to sell my last Model T (same one my dad bought)...

I for one would say that adding an over under is a great idea should you plan on actually driving an early car.
The original design was thought to be good for the first million or so...perhaps a few knuckled under when trying to climb down like a goat...but the story goes (in the age before recalls) that Ford took the reports as wives tales or...

Auto supply stores may still stock ignition ballast resistors. A typical value is 1.5 ohms. With any significant, sustained load, the resistor will get hot and the resistance will increase. That ought not be an issue in a horn circuit.

My guess is that they're wood wheels with lightweight airplane style sheet metal covers. The radial streaked look may be due to dirt and grease.

Does anyone have a nice clear pic of the window channels in a TT steel cab? I assume there is one since the glass is 1/4” and the opening in the door pillars 5/8” or so. I can make a felt lined wooden or aluminum channel easy enough, but would like to see what was original. Thanx.

I believe that’s a random washer that was used to keep the hole from getting bigger. It’s not a surprise to see a patch up used on a Model T. Sometime in the past a previous owner used what he had and was happy.

And remember that the paint may be a little faded. If you want to get a good match it might be best to do the computer match. Reds, maroons can fade just a bit over time. BUT if the car was black that wouldn’t as hard to match. Some will wash and lightly buff the paint to help bring out the color and then try to do a match.

If you had a Ford V8 in the same state of disassembly as your T, It probably wouldn't make any noise cranking it by hand, even with well-worn timing gears. The reason being that with 8 cylinders, there would be more cams engaging the valve lifters at any given moment.

The plan was to use that single coil to fire all cylinders, so each spark plug would get the same size spark and it would always be available.

DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS PERSON:
They responded to a classified I posted about some hood panels I'm looking for. Exact same wording response as the scammer that screwed me out of money for some seat springs a few months ago.
I really wish MTFCA would block their IP address.

Contact Administration and ask them to be more vigilant in dealing with scammers.
I wrote a heartfelt letter to Admin about this profile and my distrust of this organization now due to being scammed and the lack of policing on here; I received no response.
Really gives me confidence. The scammer profile is still on here but seems to be...

I’m looking for a new trailer winch to pull the T onto the trailer. I have had witches with wire cable before. All did well. I was just wondering about witches with rope. The winch will be stored in the dry. Any suggestions of which is recommended is appreciated.

I bought a X-Bull winch . I was looking for a winch with rope, wireless remotes. I ended up with a 12,000 pound unit, it came with two wireless remotes. I don't know why two. Also, a wired remote. I wanted wireless in case I was loading by myself. 12,000 is a bit of overkill as I'm not lifting a car up off its wheels! X-Bull was cheaper than...

Putting my front end on after rebuilding it and I find this engine mount does not fit correctly, I've been told the top center piece is correct, has ford stamp and T320? but the rest is some aftermarket thingy. I was going to use this but the bottom part of this contraption only touches the front cross member and there is a gap between it and the...

That accessory device might be a good thing to have on a TT with a stake bed or a bus on a TT chassis, or a wrecker. I wouldn't want it on a car, especially an open car.
I put one of these 6 hole plates on a touring. As pictured in the accessory ad. It does a good lob stabilizing the front end from side sway.
The whole thing looks to be for a...

I am in the process of installing a chevy crankshaft into a model T block.
So far in this project I have modified the crankshaft flange as well as the front end of the crank.
This particular engine had been rebuilt not long before I acquired it. When I opened it there were a number of issues, however the pistons and cylinders are great, so my...

IF YOU HAVE the skill and tools, then doing the A of Chevy crank conversion is comparatively cheap! You learn and have a rewarding experience. When the special pistons were available it had minimal incremental cost.

I purchased new wire wheel lugs and hubs for my 1927 Touring, the wheel lugs measure .627 and the lug hole in the hub measures .624, will I be able to press these lugs in or do I need less than .003 interference.
If I do need less interference How do I go about fixing that?

Keep plugging away at your search, eventually one with pop up. The same adapter would be used with the 1,2 or 3 port heads. The other thing that you need to find or make, the water outlet piece. It mounts to front of the head where the Chevrolet outlet went and mates to the head adapter.
If you do find a Thunderbolt adapter, Olson Gaskets should...

My 24 Coupe only has the one taillight without a second wire for a brake light. I see they have several different styles of Stoplight switches available and I wanted to know what you guys think of the different styles. My thoughts were not to put full turn signals on rather just make the single light activate for both headlights and brakes.

I didn't even use the lower mounting hole on the switch, nor did the one I copied from, just the top hole. If at some point if I do need to add a brace at the bottom, wouldn't be too hard.

So called VIN numbers are now international meaning that there is a database in the cloud keeping track of ownership and accident reports. Since such history didn't start till after 1981 it is unlikely that any information prior to that , other than that of a title that has not been revised. Now when you say history I assume you mean past owners....

Don't take any more of the switch apart! The next step may get you into a can of worms. From what I see just cleaning is all that is necessary. Do not use any graphite in the lock or elsewhere it will short the switch.
Bending the contacts isn't advisable unless its...
