Has anyone else experienced a kevlar band on the brake drum swelling?

Mine did during a short 10-mile trip and caused the car to stall. Not much room left to loosen the band - running out of threads on the pedal shaft.

I would assume that bands settle in and compress some over time.

Can anyone recommend the cheapest new 21 inch tires? I just don't have much cash to spare at the moment. My car has 60- 70 year old tires that are still holding up but I am wanting to put the miles on the old girl come spring and I definitely have concerns about getting too far from home with tires so old.

Here is a 1924 Hoover bodied TT funeral coach. According to the article it was in good shape and then recently restored. It sold at auction for $44.000 dollars.

What is this on my 1927 Touring passenger side, front, running board bracket?

I am in the beginning of an engine tare down for rebuilding on a 26. When unbuttoning,…removing the hogshead, it became apparent that the front of the ball cap had been touching the clutch spring support as both surfaces are scored.
This engine has been rebuilt not many miles ago, and has some other issues so this is not a huge surprise.

I bought a 5/16 rivet set to install the running board brackets on my new frame but the rivet set head is not the correct size, it appears to be the correct size for the factory formed head on the rivet I got from Langs. What size rivet set do I need to do the the unfinished end of the rivet to match what Ford did, like in the second photo.

Would anyone be able to list the major changes that took place in the Black Cars. I am familiar with the Brass era but beyond that I only know that the improved car (26 and 27) used more steel and look a bit more like a Model A.

I am in the process of making a couple new clutch drums. The only dimension I am missing is from the face the washers right against to the set screw hole. Obviously that is critical. I know there were two different numbers for early cars and late cars. At least that is what I understand. Does anybody have that dimension or a drawing?

Can anyone point me at old photos of the original upholstery in the Improved Ford 1926/27 Runabout? I can find pictures of the nice job people have done on restorations, but I would like to see some clues about the original upholstery design.

I was given this old tool by a co-worker. Dad and I looked it over, and were thinking maybe it was to decarbon a valve by hand. By its construction, i would say 20's-30's It has a hand crank, an adjustable cutter, and some weird spring thing that i have no idea about. No company markings. Any of you guys something like this ?

I will soon be putting the body back on the frame of my 1927 Coupe. I will be putting casters under the wheels to help in positioning the frame under the body.

Where is the best locations to place the jacks to get wheels onto the casters?

I think it is going to be difficult to get the frame positioned to insert the body bolts. Any suggestions?

Here's a question for Torpedo owners. My 1911 Torpedo has a hole under the driver's seat with a wooden box hanging down from it. It is about 6 inches square and 8 deep. The former owner had a small power sports battery in it to provide power to the coils. Is this battery box original or was it added later?

Hello,
I wanted to see how is the best way to check for correct timer rod length. My new 26 had an old outside oiler that the rod is bent to pass under and I wonder if it hasn't caused the rod to get out of adjustment. The car starts pretty easily, but curiously, it will only start with the spark a little advanced.

Someone told me upgrading a 1917 Engine with a starter was an easy task.

A newer flywheel with a starter ring gear and a 119 or later transmission cover was all that was required.

The starter worked fine and turned the engine over very nicely.
