In a discussion about tires on my Fronty a guy made mention of the use of large balloon tires on a speedster he had seen years ago. I have photo's of Model TT trucks with such tires, they were an option on late 26/27 trucks here in Australia and appear in Ford factory literature.
Never seen a spedster with them but they may have been a good option...

The Model T Club of Greater St. Louis brought 7 cars to the the Patrick’s Day parade on 3/15.
We awoke to an overcast day after the terrible storm rolled thru the area the night before. All of the dirt that was kicked up coming across the plains made for a dreary looking day. We compensated by having a great time. The parade was a bit off from...

We were blessed with wind gusts to 60 MPH and visibility down to about 1/2 mile. It was much worse elsewhere, with gusts reaching 90 MPH and visibility near zero. On the positive side, there were no fires in this immediate area. Countless tons of soil were moved from one place to another. I have brush cover here, so I probably gained a few tons.

A minor detail, almost not noticeable.
The firewall to frame brackets have an offset, a dedicated left and right, with the upright more than a half inch offset from the foot of the bracket. Your picture shows the brackets offsetting the upright toward the outside of the frame. In actuality, they mount with the offset toward the inside of the...

Just today we made a tool to replace the camshaft without removing the head and valves, while not using the original tappets with the hole provided for the job per the Ford manual. All things are possible. Ford manual describes a process to change the crankshaft gear without pulling the engine.

Since I'm rebuilding the rear, I thought I'd check out the transmission of my 1915 roadster. This is the first T that I've removed the hogs head. It has cotton linings which actually look OK, but one had loose rivets that came right off when I touched them. Anyway, any thoughts on how it looks?

I recommend the single stack magneto coil with the starter notch. Also changed the flywheel to one with a starter ring gear. These recommendations are based on the possibility of added a starter. Both Lang's and Snyder's catalogs show rebuilt mag rings.
The lenght of the 1919 to 1922 coil cores are 25 inches, which match that of the 1915s. The...

This picture was on a welding page and was interesting! Lincoln built this “portable welder” and what I noticed was the T wheels that was used on it. In the Marines, for a few extra dollars, we could buy anodized brass buckles, brass tie clasp and brass uniform buttons. Like Baldwin door knobs, the brightwork was very brightly polished and never needed to be polished. I wonder how difficult and expensive it would be to get Model T brass work anodized and who does it.

It would be just a mold number to they could track back to that mold if there was a problem. Replacement blocks with no serial number would have been sold as a bare block, the buyer would have stamped the old original number from the block they were replacing after the engine was installed. I am trying to help a friend determine a fair price for a pretty nice brass original E&J carbide generator she is thinking about selling. Does anybody have a good idea on the value or contact information for someone who could be helpful? I have more pictures I can provide, but for some reason I can't attach them to this message.

The dent, cracks, missing basket, and gasket issue will lower its price, though it still seems like a nice piece overall. For valuation, I recommend reaching out to specialized antique lighting dealers or online auction platforms like eBay. A quick search of similar items can give a good starting point.

Getting close to time for the Duncan swap meet. (March 19, 20, 21) It's looking like the move from Chickasha is being accepted as the pre war replacement. But we need to make it as successful as possible this year. So I challenge everyone on the fence to throw a bunch of stuff in the back of a truck, rent 1 or more spaces and show up as a vendor....

Started loading more boxes of goodies. The main thing I'm looking for is teens, 1920s, 1930s, camping items. That can be anything related to Auto Touring or Motor Camping. Even books, literature, photos, post cards, Tin Can Tourist stuff. I'm currently looking for a 1920s Coleman lantern. A nice folding wood table would also be nice on our camp...

Now that you have the TT jack, the handle is a tough item to find. The TT tire irons are a bit easier to find at swap meets.

Adjusting clutch fingers too often.

Three or so years ago I lost high gear. After some research I figured out that I just needed to adjust my clutch fingers. I did so, and all was good. For a couple months. Then they fell out of range again. I assumed my clutch spring was weak, so I installed the spring spacer sold by the vendors. That worked great for a year or two, but then this...

I even pull the parking lever into neutral position while waiting for a signal. It is much safer than holding the pedal in neutral. With the foot it is easy to either slip the band on the drum or wear the disks. Ok at a stop sign when the stop is very short time, but with the modern signals it can be quite a wait.

I have thought about this for a long time but it is time to ask those who know better than me.
We drive our toys once in a while or less, and fill gas into the tank rarely. I use regular gas to fill up before a tour or when I don’t want to be stranded without gas around town. Now, there is obviously some or several gallons that have been in the...

I am in the process of having a new top built and installed. I have tuned up the top irons and fitted new bows. I have a friend that has done 2 tops for my brass Buicks but he has never sewn up a T top. I would like to be reasonably accurate on stitching details for the new Touring top. I decided against the top kit route and purchased the...

My thanks to all that responded. Keith Townsend established contact and with his Late 1911 touring has provided great photos and responses to my questions. I am off and running now with my trimmer making the new top. I am new to T's and this forum, what a great forum with helpful folks!

Who can stamp the correct style numbers on a repro 14 body data plate? RV did my 11 Touring for historical purpose only, not for vehicle identification, and I looking for someone to do the same for my 14 Runabout. Art

Data plate number stamping ended in the mid 1910s. Block stamping and data plate stamping during the years when both were done was different due to the need for cast iron blocks to be cut by sharp fonts. Data plates using thinner and softer materials could use a more blunt font.
Over the years of production, several minor variations of fonts were...

Number nine caught my eye first time through. If it is Canadian production? That might throw a wrench in the works as far as production details are concerned. Canadian cars do have minor differences from USA built Ts, and those differences were not consistent for very long.

Mike, you live in an area with hills and mointains,, You'll love, and perhaps need, your Ruckstell to not have to climb those hills in low gear. Your saving grace is that it's a lightweight roadster. They aren't that difficult to rebuild if you choose to do so before driving much. Also, if you don't have an accessory oiler to push oil to the front...

I must admit, speedster kits come about a little differnt around Mack's Garage.
First, the family buys land in 1969 with a bunch of trees on it and then 1 of them dies about 2010 and falls on a nieghbors fence about 2017
Then I bring the logs out from the woods and they lay around a while longer.

You can also gain some clearance by swapping the steering arms side to side and flipping them. I had to do that on my speedster. I have a set of Laurel style brackets on it.

This photo shows up on numerous sites without any real discussion, if it has been discussed here I don't seem to see any reference to these tracked T's except the Chase variety.
Looking at the set up with the small rear geared axle it would be flat out doing more than crawling pace. A lot of work to build the underneath frame plus track and wheels...

I had noticed the numbers on your tool Dan, and the Z number means it likely is a Ford workshop tool. I just wondered if a new cast bush in a newly machined block would require aligned reaming. It seems counter-intuitve to add the operation to the engine build. It is not as if there is a great load on the bush, nor great speed in the rotating...

Hopefully someone from the Model T brains trust can shed some light on these wire wheels which were attached to a 1927 T rear axle in some parts I collected this week. Yes, Graeme, they do look good on the Erskine. Chances of finding Erskine parts in my neck of the woods is pretty thin. Kind of the same for the the Dodge, which did not use 20...
