As I recall. a few different people made reproduction four valve Rajo heads. One was produced many years ago in Australia if I recall correctly. Some were cast iron I know, And I think a few were made in cast aluminum. Quality and fit varied between those repros.

Anyone going to Dedham MA this Sunday 7/10? How many T's?
Last post
Over 1000 cars present today.
But only 3 model T's, a 1913 Jackson, a late teens or early 20' Pierce arrow, and an air cooled Franklin.
Some super elegant stuff from the 30's, but mostly stuff too new for me.
Model T presence minimal. Very sad. 50 years ago when I was a little kid, brass and steam was everywhere. Not any more.

1926 Fan Pulley Question:

My 26 Roadster pickup has a 2 row round tube radiator and a replacement short fan hub with the modern bearing. The cylinder head temperature runs up around 250 degrees, according to my infrared thermometer. My question is, could the short pulley, positioning the fan further from the radiator, be causing the engine run at that higher temperature?
Last post
Today, I drove it again. The temperature was 77. This time it has a water pump installed, but still the short pulley. The cylinder head temperature was right around 200 degrees. My next move is to install the longer pulley and install the short belt and not let the water pump turn. If it still runs cool, I will remove the pump. I did not check the...

In the photo with the saddle for the seat and who's next on the disc wheels, I would imagine the wheel centers are offset to make it buck and hard to stay in the saddle. Not uncommon years ago to make a bucking T.

Anyone price Babbitt late? I just looked at my supplier for Ford mix. $200 for 7 lb block. They use to offer a discount online for large orders, not anymore. Have to call to see if they do.
Engine building just went up.

Dan, did you actually call them to see if there is still a discount? It used to be a minimum of 6 bars and it calculated the discount for you. Now says to call for volume discounts.
One thing that you also didn't mention is the cost to get 6 bars shipped has become as much as one bar costs!! :o

Cap screw heads that is. The trouble with cleaning parts hour after hour is that my mind wanders to the land of Oz, Kalamity Dick and questions about how the parts were made and when. Many of the Ford bolts in this batch appear to be from one car and have a round depression in the middle of the head. I have other original Ford bolts without that...

I'm sure I have saved as much time looking for bolts as it took to build the 50 or 60 drawers to put them in. I have saved a hundred trips to the hardware store to buy a little screw in a package for $3. Besides I like to work with wood. If I use 1% of the bolts I have sorted out it will have been worth while. All we can do is try.

My friend is having trouble. The NH on his touring runs rich all the time. Mixture needle is binary and only turns fuel on and off. Trying to adjust does nothing.
Black smoke and gas soaked spark plugs. Advancing the throttle bogs the motor. Mix needle is perfect with not a mark or imperfection. Carb's been cleaned and blown out.
Why is this?...

Jerry, my experience comes from watching the fellows in my favourite machine shop hardness testing alloy heads after they have been overheated. If they are too soft, they are not worth working on. This is soft material, and the testing tool leaves the small centre punch mark referred to. It seems counter intuitive for a ball type test on harder...

I replaced the ignition and light switch contacts 30 some years ago. Everything worked ok, but I wanted to have the face plate nickel plated.
After disassembling everything I found the lock cylinder (tumbler) was missing 2 of the 4 wafers. The rectangular end of the pot metal cylinder wasn't so rectangular anymore - a chunk was missing where it...

Good eye James, you're absolutely right!
I have been tweeking this wafer and it unlocks much better now.
I won't be able to paint the handle for at least a week, so the reassembly will have to wait a bit.

I have some questions on my 1925 Model T Coupe.
We ordered new tires and took them to someone here locally who restores vintage cars to have them mounted on the split rims. Went to put them on last night, the first one went on perfectly. No issues at all. All 3 of the others were a nightmare to get on. It seems the rims with the tires mounted...

Really appreciate all the responses and all of the information. Great tips and instructions on how to do this myself. No ill will against the guy who mounted them. He's a hobbyist as well. I'm going to use the ideas from this post to break down the tires and see if I can straighten the rims.
Thanks again!

My lazy way is to use about 120 psi from a small nozzle while introducing solvent or gasoline into the spray. This cleans old gunk out to my low standards 😁 but if the drain area is bent up, I’d follow Bob’s advice.

EEC represents the European Economic Community. I believe it became widely used to blur the distinction between older western nations like Britain and Germany and the newly emerging eastern European nations from the communist bloc. It may mean that the tubes were manufactured in one of the newer European economies.

The lower bracket is installed be for the spark lever at the bottom. It can be installed while everything is in the car. For the throttle, install that one that the link was posted to, or take off the pitman arm, unbolt and side the lower mounting bracket down and install the correct one. The column does not have to be removed.

I have a question for all the early T owners out there: was it a common problem for very early model T’s (1909,10,11) to have a small turning arc on right hand turns? I haven't found a reference explaining the different lengths of the bends, but I assume they're for different years.

Both rods have the later forged ends. References disagree about the year those began. Both rods are 54¼ long.

While there is a lot of documentation on suppliers, blueprints etc... I doubt if every variation of some parts were documented and if they were if that information has been found. If there is no specification for the length or angle of a bend then relying on physical examples might be an alternative. But how many examples would be needed and how...
