My 1915 Touring Car is running rough at higher rpm after I’ve replaced all ignition components and I’ve decided to go through the carb. and make sure it is ok as I have never done this yet on this car and feel that some issue with it is probably the culprit.
I have discovered that instead of a needle and seat attached to the float that I instead...

I run a G on our '14 - they have a reputation of being temperamental at best for float setting. The Ford Service Bulletins show a diagram & a special measuring tool to properly set the depth of the gas in the well corresponding to the pick-up tube. Corey Walker set mine up - runs flawlessly !
The beauty of this carb, is that its easy/possible...

Crankshaft Counter Weights

Yesterday I scored a set of counter weights at a price too good to pass up. So this is the first time I've actually given any thought to using them in a engine. I would be interested in the opinions of you guys who may have used them in the past. So tell me what you think, pros, cons, successes, failures, whatever. Thanks in advance. Bob
Last post
A properly counterweighted crankshaft will allow a T engine to run much smoother and run at somewhat higher RPM without damage. More power will be available to move the car, and the driveline and the entire car will benefit from the marked reduction in vibration. Personally, I'd be inclined to install one of the new counterbalanced crankshafts,...

Yes. Firestone. Used on some of the Model A body styles, in various lengths. 8 11/16 long would be 28-29 coupe and tudor models. Most were chocolate brown, but some may have been black. How are they for flexibility after so many years? I know Model A restorers that may be interested if for sale.

Last post
The petrol tank cap is a fairly standard size and thread. A Fordson tractor cap fits, either the radiator cap or the fuel tank cap. A more ready source is the bung in a 200 litre fuel/chemical drum. Nowadays these are usually diecast, so any fitting to the bung would need to be bolt-in rather than welded/soldered.

Ok, got a question on this drawing....you'll note that the radius 16 7/64 has no dimension from the datum plain to the distance from the center-line...also there is no dimension for the start point of 5 51/64 Radius, now if you continue that line it does intersect with the dimension line for the 11 63/64 R line. You are missing the rest of the bracket assembly.
That particular set-up has an additional bracket that screws into the door sill. Then, you attach the horn to the permanent bracket on the sill with a single bolt and nut or wing nut.
It's designed that way to prevent theft. It allows you to easily detach the horn and take it with you, if so...

The ignition system consists of a number of parts and assemblies. All of the parts and assemblies must be in good working order for the system to work properly and consistently deliver a good spark to each cylinder at the proper time, every time. The ignition system is somewhat like a chain. It will only function as well as the weakest link.

Your second post implies the noise has changed for the worse.
Its the tripple gears. Check the slop in the bushings. Pull the transmission access cover & wiggle the gears one @ a time with a large screwdriver. Check teeth condition visually. If your inspections dont show glaring wear/looseness, this noise level may be normal.

Increases valve spring pressure. Commonly done on modern engines to maintain valve spring pressure after a valve job. Good original springs or new ones should be used. No additional spacer is needed for a T motor, even with a lower valve seat.

The timer discussion reminded me of this, so I thought I'd mention it in case anybody is unaware of it. It hadn't occurred to me until John Regan warned me about it.
High voltage can jump across a small gap anywhere, not just in a spark plug. Keep those plug wires away from low voltage wires, especially the one from the magneto. I believe ¼ is...

Getting along on some of my projects and wanting to start on the part I have been avoiding, the interior. I am trying to figure out what material to use to make the inside panels. It appears to be a non-corrugated card board painted black on the open cars and cloth covered on the closed cars. I have been nosing around trying to find something...

Hope to meet some of you guys that can attend more often. Look for a '22 Center Door with Colorado Plates. See you there!

My 22 starter car did not have a horn when it came but I do have a hand operated klaxon and a magneto horn on hand (a little worse for wear and with a few dents that I plan to smooth out). Some checking showed my car was made January 11, 1922 and the battery horn came out after that, so it would have had a magneto horn. All to the good.

At least two of the roadster pickups are earlier with straight windshields, while five clearly have slanted windshields. I bought 4-40 nuts and ran a 5-40 tap through them. I don't imagine they're an exact reproduction of the originals, but I expect a small fraction of 1% of the people who see them will know that. As the old saying goes, close enough for gummint work.

I believe you should have closer to a 1/4 gap at the axle top measure with a square - the old saying was a #2 pencil should be able to be inserted at the top .
It is wider than 1/8 , 6 degrees, I believe according to the manual. I like a 3/8 difference. & have gone up to 5/8 on my freeway flyer.
The T is more stable @ higher speeds.

The diagrams for a simple charging system appear similar.

In my world, batteries rarely deliver their full rating. The settings recommended above are about the best you can do with a stock T system. If you want to use the headlights to load the generator to prevent overcharging during daytime driving, you would need to remember to turn the lights off when you stop or drive slowly for extended periods.
