Im getting ready to respoke a set of wheels for our 25. The old spokes are removed, and im looking to order new ones.
I want to make sure that this is not a ford felloe, but a hayes, needing the slightly longer spokes.

All of our 21 wheels have the straight up outer edge on the felloes. i have never seen that on a 23 rim here. where Kelsey in Canada seem to have been the major/only supplier.
Interestingly, 21 Hayes wire wheels have an outer edge of the felloe rolled to the outside, making the relief for the lug foot even more interesting.

Wayne, I agree. The other photo I have shows the top sockets much more clearly and they are definitely oval. Other than such clues I have no idea of it's serial number or build date. Nothing about it exists in family records except the two photos.

I have a set of Dayton 48 spoke pin drive wheels but the tapers in the rear hubs were bad. I want to use the wheels on my 26 speedster so I decided to make some new hubs. I have a Grizzly lathe and Precision Mathiews mill and enjoy making things.

I found some inexpensive 4130 bar and plate that I had welded together to make the basic shape....

I got a reamer in my set #2527. These reamers usually have the bushing number stamped on them. I don’t find a2527 bushing. The diff spider is numbered 2526b. Is the early spider bushing 2527? I can’t find my early parts list. Anyone know what bushing this reamer is for? Thanks Dan

Should the pins stick through the drive plate? Right now, with the correct number of clutch disks the pins are just below the surface of the drive plate. Guessing there might be some wear so am thinking of adding a large and small disk to bring those pins up higher.

I had my 1915 tourings rear end up on jack stands and noticed a fair amount of free play between when I rotate one wheel before the other one starts turning the other direction. What should be the max? It does have a Ruckstell but not engaged. Thanks

I think you are right. It appears to be a 1912 open roadster with the seat base removed, and maybe the standard seat remounted low and tilted back, firewall modified with cowl added, steering lowered, and no tool box. Makes a darn nice speed car!

I have a customer's project in that has an OHV engine with a Model-A crankshaft conversion that appears to have never been finished on the front end. The Rods & Mains have been completed, but the nose of the crankshaft was not machined for T pulleys, etc. Is there any shops that still do the A cranks conversions that would be willing to finish...

I pushed the 26 RPU in the shop a couple weeks ago to do all the normal lube and adjustments. Oil change adjust Rockies and bands if needed. Fix a small gas leak at the shut off ect.. well Sunday I finally got to spend the day in the shop. I was amazed at how much debree was in the screen in the tank shut off. I have seen sets of triple gears sold in the past. Do people usually sell them by so much for the set of 3 or by each gear? I guess with the price of new made gears if you can find them, paying for individual gears is a good buy. Just wondering, I do

Generally when I sell a used set I sell the 3 triple gears and the 4gear not on the drums (having a brain fart on the name) as a set 55$ plus the ride I don't sell singles it seems guy like them to be used as a set so they are all worn even that's the consensus I've gotten

Art, that is a great idea. Just don't use so much adhesive that you trap an air bubble in the socket that may prevent the bow seating all the way down. In woodworking, dowels often have a slot in the side, or are fluted all round, to allow air to escape as the parts are assembled.

Installing a turn signal flasher on my 27 Touring. Pretty simple schematic or wiring diagram if you prefer.

Once installed and system powered up the turn signals both work correctly.

When the turn signals are NOT on, the flasher buzzes and none of the turn signals are on or flashing.

What's going on?

I just received my Warford this week. I got on the list at the end of October so it was right at 6 months.

John allowed me to send them my driveshaft and torque tube for shortening while I waited so now I have everything ready to go for the installation.

From the factory, there were no webbing straps undere the top.

The top pads serve that purpose and, if they are made correctly, they have canvas sewn inside them. There are two pieces of leatherette top material sewn down the middle tacked between the first and second bow as reinforcement (finished side down in the photos below).

You should get an order together to allow you to purchase the felt washer. It is uniquely suited for the purpose of holding in the oil in, while applying pressure to the pulley to keep it tight and lubricating the face of the rear bushing with the oil retained within the felt washer. I don’t thing there are any substitutes for the felt washer.

This appears to be a Model T key, but doesn't have the center hub . Examining with a magnifying glass reveals no evidence of a rivet being ground down. Any ideas?

I think I installed my clutch release ring in the incorrect location but wanted to confirm before pulling everything apart again. Is the location, as pointed out in the handbook (pictured below) the same as where I put the arrow on my picture? Thank you in advance!

Did you replace the low pedal cam and notch? If they're worn, which they pretty much always are, or the pedal is bent forward, it can be impossible to get the band adjusted properly.

if you are using a solenoid like is used on a mid 70's ford pickup, the bolt pattern fits right on the steering column bolts if you want to put it under the hood for easy access.

I am working on a 1914 roadster which has the original horn and tubing, both in great shape. The horn bulb however, is long gone and only the brass base of the bulb is left. I see that the vendors offer a 4 inch and a 3 inch diameter bulb. Which one is correct for this application for the 1914?

I was breaking down an early transmission/flywheel assembly and got a little surprise.
One of the magnets came off in two pieces!
It looks like it's an original assembly as indicated by what appears to be the original lock wire.
There was no indication the magnet was broken.

Motor kicked back a bit when starting, now won't turn over (sounds like it's trying). Battery, switch, power to starter seems ok. is the bendix jammed into the flywheel?

A friend has a problem that may relate to the TT Truck Rear Axle Ratio.

His TT Truck goes slower than most with a top speed of 12 miles per hour.

The rear axle ratio must be printed someplace, but I cannot find it.

The Model A used the same rear axle with different wheels.

Would that axle in a Model T make it run slower?

'My' TT was a Texas Truck, and was mostly Garaged until Dad and I brought it to California.. It had the 7:1 Rear.. top speed with a Cast Iron Warford was 18 MPH..
Dad then Found a 'Very Used' set of 5:1 Gears.. Upon installing them. he could get to 42-45 MPH.. Only Stock Brakes..

Is the Turbo400 Inner Clutch Disk a thing of the past or is someone still making them?

I am having a problem finding one.

The Jackrabbit Clutch disk pack was the secret, as it comes with 8 thicker Turbo400 disks and only uses 9 original disks with it, or perhaps 10 and they are available.

The main advantage is it improves the ability to shift from Lo to Hi or Hi to Low.

Snyders had a set and the transmission is back together now.

Rather than send the question directly to Russ, I'll post it here in case others are interested too. After working on the head and checking whether it works with a reverse drill, I reinstalled it in the car and tried it out today when I drove to town for groceries. It works, but reads low. Unless the cowl or windshield post’s are some how bent it should bolt on and the angle should work itself out when the windshield posts are bolted on. Or so it seems.
