My neighbor had a problem

Post by ironhorse » Tue Jun 27, 2023 2:51 pm

The tire on his work wagon looked like this

He said none of the local stores had a tire that matched exactly, but he could either get one through amazon and wait 2 weeks (coming from China) or replace all 4 at a cost of $100+. He asked if I had any ideas... I said grab me a couple of pieces of that scrap plywood. This is what I came up with

I may make a model t'er out of him yet!

Do you live near Harbor Freight?

They sell a comparable ten and thirteen inch wheels with the same style pneumatic tire:

In the past, they sold replacement ten and thirteen inch tires and tubes seperately but apparently that is no longer the case. Two years ago, a neighbor discarded an expensive, heavy duty hose-reel because one of the four tires was shot. I bought a replacement tire for a few dollars at Harbor Freight and sold the hose reel on Craigslist for over a hundred bucks.

Northern Tool is another option if you live nearby:

If you wanted to keep the tire you might be able to fill it some sort of foam like construction foam.
Wont pop either!

That is neat! Glad to see people are still capable of making do with what is around!

When I was 5 to 7 yrs old, I had a wagon which was built by my grandfather. The wheels were wood with sheet metal wrapped around the diameter which served as a tire. The wagon didn't ride very well, but i didn't know it at a young age,
