ID and Remove this Locking Steering Wheel?

Post by Tadpole » Sat Oct 19, 2024 12:00 pm

Off-Topic because this is a Chevrolet. Mystery locking wheel, this is all that is left of it. Can anyone learn me how to remove it?

Hard to say, since probably very few here, (including me), know how a Chev. steering wheel attaches in the first place. My guess is, it's got a lot to do with that small hole on the side, near the bottom edge. Maybe try rotating the wheel, or what's left of it, and see if that hole eventually aligns with something inside. Go from there.

It would be a keyed or splined shaft like a Model A with a nut holding the wheel on. Might suggest asking in a couple of other places:

I know the voices aren't real but damn they have some good ideas!

If you're not trying to save it just take a Dremel tool with a cut off wheel and cut down both sides to split it in half get it off
