A friend of mine came upon a Eifel motor and transmission that was made by Ford in Germany in the late 30’s. Anyone here know anything about this Eifel motor, or is there anyone that can put some sort of price tag on it?

The car is similar to the English Fords of the time. It would be interesting to see if there was any collaboration between the two manufacturing plants.

One of the links Rich posted clearly states they used British designs. The Model Y became the Koln, the Model C became the Eiffel. The US V8 became the Rheinlander. I can't see a reference to the Model 62, which used the V8-60, that also was made in France as the Matford.

In Europese countries cars were and are taxed by the governments through some or other way of calculation which involves the horsepower or the engine capacity.
So there has been a tendency for lighter cars with smaller engines or reducing the output, while in the U.S. there was a trend towards ever bigger engines (There's no substitute for cubic inches, right?)
So most U.S. manufacturers had little chance of selling large volumes of their American models abroad, especially after the Wall street crash of '29.
That prompted Ford in the '30s to develop smaller cars for the European markets to be produced over here, as Ford had several factories, some dating from the T days, some built later.
There were factories in Cork, Ireland, Dagenham, England, Köln, Germany, and in France, Belgium and the Netherlands to name just a few.
