27 Roadster rear fender braces

Post by Eric Sole » Mon May 02, 2022 4:52 pm

My left rear fender has a bent iron brace (which also has an additional hole between the two standard ones).

The right rear fender has a stamped steel brace.

Were there different manufacturers or did they change the style at some point? Just wondering.

Eric

Think the difference is the year, believe the solid bar type is early, had this solid type on my Nov. '25 Improved Car runabout pick-up. Guess the later pressed steel version saved some cost.

Cost/weight and perhaps cost of stock to make it. The late fenders were probably stiffer to to the changed contours, aslo.

Yah, the stamped piece has about 1/3 of the material of one solid one. Makes sense.
