Door Lock Question

Post by Ken Lefeber » Fri Jun 10, 2022 7:04 pm

Does anybody know the correct key code for an enclosed car door lock?
My 27 Coupe didn't have a key for the door when I bought it.
The original lock has a number stamped on it that is slightly different than the number I found in the service manual.
It looks like 2 numbers are switched around. I had a key made with the code on the original lock, but it doesn't work.
The locksmith said the springs inside might be broke and there is no way of opening it without destroying it to find out.
I was hoping someone out there might know what the correct key code would be.

The 1 is the full key width with no notch.

The 1 in the sample suggests the 2 and 3 notches are not cut quite deep enough.

The 3 notch looks just a little too deep for the 2 notches.

The 2 notches should be half the distance and in between the 1 and 3 notch depth.

I don't recall the depth ratios, but you can measure any original Yale key not badly worn and find the answer.

Lang’s has a good reproduction door lock and keys for the 24-27 closed car for around 15.00. https://cdn.modeltford.com/i/c/475408l.jpg.
