1927 Tudor Rear Window

Post by cahartley » Mon Apr 22, 2019 8:00 pm

Last September I took the '27 to a tractor show on an uncharacteristically hot day so, wanting some air circulation through the car I rolled down the passenger side rear window.
It went down about half way but I thought nothing of it as I didn't want it all the way down anyway.
When I got home I tried raising it an it wouldn't budge more than a half inch either way....... :?
At any rate I continued driving it until first salt.
Today was the first day I had time to do something and it was a warm enough day so the game began.
It was straight forward until I got to the steel panel which holds the window mechanism where I found two nails holding the panel to the pillar....... :o
So this is what I found.
Rust has pushed out the window channel which wedged on the lifter and that was that.
I'm going to clean out the channel and bend it back as I'll probably never bother with either rear window again.
On the upside the mechanism is in excellent shape.
