22 front vs rear fender support brackets?

Post by ElGranadaT » Tue Oct 17, 2023 4:13 pm

Hi -

Finally at the point of assembling my Rootlieb fenders using the brackets I removed from the original fenders. I've seemed to mix up the front vs. the rear brackets. I cannot seem to find replacement brackets on the usual sites but I did see brackets showing Front pair and rear pair on EBAY. To me, after bending and prying them off, they look pretty much the same, but I am starting to think the sides with the longer angled leg is for the inside of the front fenders - . Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks and best of regards

Marty

It the first photo, the lower two I believe are front fender brackets. They need the angles ends to catch the inside apron which goes down to the frame.

Do you still have your old fenders? You may need them to get the correct location on the new ones. Or at least to get an idea.
What about the lower brackets. If you removed the lower brackets from the old fenders you will need the correct location for those too. And make sure the front fender irons aren’t slightly bent. They can cause an issue if they are.

As far as the correct brackets are concerned the Ford parts book may have the brackets listed and if they do you would know if the brackets are the same for sure or not by the part nos.

I saved the brackets from some rusted out front and rear fenders years ago and put them on a wire stringer and noticed they looked alike or almost identical at the time. I should have marked them but didn’t!

Thank you both-
Fortunately, I do have the old fenders, and I now think I can figure them out. YES ! The angle is the key...
