Aaahhhh.....memories...
I lived in CA where I bought my TT decades ago...
I used to attend this one, as well as Turlock, Pleasanton, and so many others. There was an extensive swap meet community then. Unfortunately, the same did not exist when I moved to GA, nor now in FL, at least not as plentiful. Grandparents lived in Grass Valley, so made for a great weekend....
Miss those days...
Call me anything you want...just so long as it isn't "late for dinner"

Daisy Mae,
I remember those days. Do you remember the meets at American River College, Consumnes College, in Chico, in Davis, under the XY freeway in Sac., In Watsonville. Im sure there are others I just dont recall right now.

I never did Chico or Davis, but did all the rest, Richard. Remember the ones at Arden Fair?

It's 3:15 AM now, as soon as I get my coffee gulped down, I'll be leaving for Auburn in the 1915 hack. There's only about 735 stop signs on the way.

The ones at Arden Fair were always great, and then after being out in the hot central valley sun for hours, we would go into the food court at the shopping center and get a big cold crab louie salad!

I drove up from L.A. I've been to that meet many times, and enjoyed it, but like most other meets, it isn't even close to what it used to be. There was little Model T parts, and I enjoyed chatting with people I've known for years. There was only one vendor that had much to interest me. It got me out of Southern California for a couple of days, and that was important.

Attendance was down, both vendors and buyers. Is this the new trend? We enjoy putting on this meet. Always first Sunday of June. Next year will be our 50th year doing this meet. Even so, there were many good buys to be had.

This is going to be a bit of a rant. First off, of the bargains that were there, I passed up a complete Rocky Mountain transmission, shortened driveshaft radius rods and all for $150.00. Now the rant about low attendance. I didn't really feel like getting up at 5 in the morning for the 2 hour drive to the swap meet that I may not find a thing that I need, but I did it and as it turned out purchased a few items. On Monday after the meet I got a call from someone looking for a car part. I couldn't help but think "there was one at Auburn, but you weren't there", and I kinda told him that. But y'no if I had happened to have the part he needed and quoted a price he probably would have offered me less than what I was asking. If you want decent or sometimes bargain prices get off your hind end and go the the swap meet Those of us that are serious about this stuff, sometimes go way out of our way to secure spare parts, as we truly understand that..... we are the parts department when something goes wrong. Swap meets are a necessity in this hobby and we all need to sometimes go way out of your way to support them.

Ed, I agree with you 100%. Over the last year I have know T owners with gas tank issues. There were several at the swap meet. I think they all went back home with the vendor.

Absoeffinglutely Ed... (Is that a word? Well, it is now!) Seriously,,, I sat on my butt, and missed out on cars and deals (T;s and otherwise) and now I;m sad, but no one can take the blame but ME. I watched prices here, but didn't realize they would evaporate when I came here, Well, darn abd sox, the deals and prices went sown the spiraley drainpipe...

So yeah, I'm pulling SOMETHING together... had I half a brain upstairs I would NEVER have sent my cars elsewhere, but ya know you don't know until yoy don't know.

Regarldess, I'm still here, and while I don't yet have a home for my (original and not rotted) Scandanavia Bands (which, sorry, I do loce), eventually I will,... bcause a T is like a drug, and you can't keeo a T addict down....

Ed is correct. You won't know what's there if you don't go. Since retiring I've gone to Hershey almost every year. That little jaunt takes me through eastern Kansas, Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, and most of Pennsylvania. Has every trip been worthwhile? Monetarily, no. Sometimes you find a screaming hot deal. More often you find some useful stuff as a reasonable price. If I don't like the price I keep moving. Am I sorry I went sometime or other and didn't make a big score? No. In such cases I consider the money I spend an entertainment cost, like concert tickets or beer.
The inevitable often happens.

Drove to the swap meet, left at 4:15 AM. This was somewhere at about 5:00
