speedster firewall

Looking for a easy dimension/picture of the lowered steering column going thru the firewall for a rootlieb speedster. Size of hole, distant to center from edge, you know. I know they specify that the bottom left bolt hole is the top of the firewall bracket. Just would like to verify before I drill. Also would like to know the elevation you have for your coil box from the top down. Thank you

I don’t have the numbers except the face of the firewall is approx. 28 3/4” from the front of the frame rail. You should be able to figure it out from these pics.

If the firewall is the same as for a Torpedo I have one that I can measure

I believe you just need to make the wedges the same angle
The hole just needs to large enough for the the throttle & Spark rods to pass through cleanly.

I found these two for coil box placement. You have to be able to get the nuts on the coil box mounting brackets under the hood former.

Building a brass speedster Looking for some insight.. In the photo of this post where assuming the firewall is moved back 2" from the 28 3/4" measurement reference and the steering column is bolted through the same bracket holes I'm struggling with 2 problems the frame tab on the bracket would be hitting the transmission support before I get the 2" back and the brackets would be so close to the starter would be impossible to remove starter bolt if needed ? in the pic there is no engine or transmission for reference

The 2” firewall set back is actually 28 1/2”. These are torpedo firewall brackets.

With the 11-14 firewall brackets, you cut off the rear tab and move the front hole to the rear hole position.

You will notice in the top photo there is no tab sticking out the back to interfere with the engine pan ears. But the firewall will be right up against the pan ears.

You will have to notch away the edge of the firewall and possibly grind off the corner of the firewall bracket to gain access to the top outside screw that fastens the starter to the hogshead.
