Installing Chicago auxiliary transmission
Hi
Trying to install a Chicago auxiliary transmission in my Speedster and find that it fouls the cross shaft.
Does anyone have any images of an installed transmission showing the crosshaft?

Re: Installing Chicago auxiliary transmission
I'm attaching a picture of the auxiliary transmission in our TT. This was built in Bob Scherzer's auto shop class in high school, when I was a student in the late 70's. I believe that the Chicago transmission requires a similar custom brake shaft.

Re: Installing Chicago auxiliary transmission
I cut the cross shaft off and made a bracket that bolts to the back side of the front of the transmission (where it bolts to T transmission).
I added another cross shaft at the rear of the Chicago and put a link between the old and new shafts.
Will try to clean things up a bit and get a photo or two this weekend or early next week.

We pretty much did the same thing that Walt describes above.

Dan's is exactly the same concept and his bracket looks simpler. Go with his.

Re: Installing Chicago auxiliary transmission
I don't know if this would work or not. Put in a TT cross shaft. Fab a spacer where it bolts to the frame, this would compensate for the difference in the height of the cam. In my mind it would lower the shaft between 1" and1 1/2".
