Flywheel ring gear heads up
I am in the process of rebuilding some flywheels. Installing new ring gears, like I have done many times before.
Tried to install a new brass screw in a hole about halfway through and would not start. Turns out some chinaman missed tapping it. This is second one I have seen in a couple years. Not sure of the age of this ring gears, but watch out guys.

Is the area of the threads to hard to re-tap?
I ask because I have one with the wrong bolt pattern.

Re: Flywheel ring gear heads up
Be aware there are ring gears out there wit the original #14-24 threads and also i believe 1/4-24 threads. This came about around 10 years ago due to some supplier mix up so make sure you use the correct screws. Snyders has screws with both threads available in their catalog as do most other parts suppliers. The ring gears are soft enough to retap or redrill if you need to.
