New speedometer and tach

If you haven't read the update, just yesterday, from John Regan on the Forum Classified Parts page, you can see the details from him.

Happily was one of the 'test mules' of this new item from JLR Products, LLC, back in March of 2016.

The neat thing is it is operated solely by the Ford flywheel magneto. No gears, cables, or other stuff. Just two terminals, ground and magneto.

Here were my test photos, in the '23 with 30 3 1/2" clinchers, and in the '27 with 21" balloon tires, each have std. rear axle ratio 3:63.
Using GPS speedo app to test the output. This new speedo/tach is spot on!

So yesterday, after years of being a pest to John, got delivery of commercial unit #1, and installed in the the dash of Dixie, the '27 touring. Have had a hole there filled by an un-operable water temp gage that gave out after a few years from mounting.

So, now can check my speed in school zones, and state parks, or how fast others are passing me by on tours ;) Fun too is the lower numerals that give your engine's RPM's. All from the magneto output and John Regan's ingenious works inside the unit!

Can run safe speeds in the dark too, illumination from the dash lamp :lol:

Looks like a great product! I appreciate the effort to make it look like an era correct ford gauge. Keep up the good work.

Beautiful. If I did not already have a 1926, period correct Stewart 490, I’d buy one. I like the odometer to keep track of how far I’ve driven between servicings. Great job, great look! Jim Patrick.

To all:

Thanks for testing the prototype Dan. It was snowing in Illinois when you took delivery of the prototype and tested it. I very much appreciated that. So a big thank you for all you do for our hobby.

This morning my internet has been hit and miss and it has been off since about midnight last night. It is back up right now but can't be sure if all is OK right now or not.

If anyone has sent me any email. I may or may not have gotten it. I got a few that came through but for whatever reason I could NOT answer those emails. Sorry.
