OT – My truck issue is solved

My trusty 2003 Maroon Silverado Extended cab Z-71 Off Road with almost 200,000 miles failed NH inspection because of a little rust around the rear wheels, missing backing plates on the rear brakes, a check engine light, and a loose front ball joint.
Just a few little issues

It was a tough decision but I put it on Craigslist with a full/honest description last Friday and within 6 hours got 16 emails.
On Friday evening the first person showed up an hour early and gave me cash.

On Saturday I found a 2013 Silverado 4X4 Extended cab for about $5,000 below the Edmonds and NADA price that is in great condition.
It was also well below what other trucks like it are listed in our area so I know the price was good.
The Carfax said that it had not been in an accident.
“My Guy” confirmed that it had not been crashed and said that was well taken care of.

It has a 5.3 motor with a 6 speed transmission and the factory towing package that includes a transmission cooler, heavy duty radiator, trailer brake controller, and beefed up rear suspension.
“My Guy” said that it looked as if it seldom –if at all- had a trailer behind it.

It has a towing capacity of 9600 pounds so it is great for my trailer and either the Model T of Model A.

AND I know this one is a Silverado because it is silver!

Glad I do not live in NH, my daily commuter car (20 years old) would FAIL miserably, rocker panels are gone, the check engine light is on, due to a broken wire for the "Evaporative Emissions Control system". Runs like a champ. Only down fall, is the new tires are worth more than the rest of the car.

New Hampshire used to be OK but we were attacked by the Mass holes and they don’t like our Live Free — motto.
I understand the tire comment. Like you my truck tires were worth more than the truck.
I am going to have to deal with the tire issue on my Hyundai XG350 soon. It has almost 200,000miles on it and it will soon need tires.
We did the timing belt, water pump, and tensioners about a year ago and the body is good., but Spending $500 for tires is questionable

Here are my two transport trucks, they have a combined 900,000 + miles on them. Original engines & trans & over 700,000 of those miles are pulling the trailers.

This picture was taken while I was showing the Ford guys what real trucks look like! LOL

Watch the Hyundai...I've seen a couple around here, only 10 years old, body looks perfect...
The engine cradle/sub-frame has more holes than a screen door.
The rear mount was completely rusted off on one.
Complements of the Lake Erie snow machine and the salt that comes from under it.

I lost a Mercury Sable wagon to underbody rust.
The outside looked great but there were big holes in the frame due to rust.
So far the 2005/Hyundai looks Ok Underneath but I will watch it.

This one looks ok, but it's got the Model T self undercoating thing going on !!

Every modern I have has the engine light on! I thought that meant it is running? The 97 ch€vy gets great fuel milage because it weighs less each year.

Be careful with Carfax. Just because they don't say that a vehicle has been in an accident doesn't mean that it hasn't. I bought a car with a clean Carfax, but I soon discovered that the high-mount brake light didn't work. When I got into it, it was obvious that the car had been hit in the rear and repaired. The body work was fine, but the rear wiring harness had been damaged and hacked back together; it should have been replaced. I had to spend quite a lot of time repairing the wiring (I'm anal about wiring and had to find the correct gauge and colors of wire to do the repair).
