Participation in another thread where I mentioned the fact that "air wash" over a water-cooled engine also adds somewhat to the overall cooling of an engine, which is something I learned many years ago when I worked as a "detail draftsman" for a group of International Harvester mechanical engineers. That reminded me of something else I learned from those engineers at that time that might be of value to a "T" owner that has an engine that tends to run a bit "borderline" hot.

Besides the importance of "air wash" over a water-cooled engine, those same engineers really "drove a point home" with what I thought was a very good analogy! (....must have been good, because this was over 50 years ago and I remember it well!)

The one engineer asked me if I knew what a lot of long-distance swimmers do, just before something like swimming across the English Channel. His explanation was that they smear their entire body from head to toe with grease! This was to instill in me, the importance of keeping an engine free of an accumulation of grease and oil and eventually, caked-on "gunk"! Great insulation to keep heat in, right? Something to think about,.....FWIW,.....harold
