Good news to offset bad times

Post by Bruce Compton » Mon Oct 05, 2020 3:58 pm

With all the crappy stuff going on in the world these days, here is a refreshing story that needs to be told. About a month ago I purchased a Wheeler-Schebler carb from Mike Leonard on the Classified site. The carb had been sitting on a shelf for years and Mike packaged and sent it to me. I received the carb, and began the restoration only to find that a major part (main jet) was missing. This particular carb had not been apart in decades and I had to apply lots of heat to remove most of the caps and screws so I knew for sure that Mike had no idea that the jet was missing. I asked for help in finding one on the classified site but had no luck although Scott Conger offered to make one for me (thanks Scott) . I did however contact Mike to see if maybe he might have another "parts" carb and mentioned the problem. Keeping in mind that I purchased the carb "as-is" and that Mike knew nothing about it's condition, I was somewhat surprised when he offered a complete refund or a partial refund to make up for the missing jet. The actions of Mike Leonard speak volumes towards his character as well as the quality and honesty of so many other guys on this site that often go unnoticed and maybe even unappreciated or taken for granted. This is just a reminder as to how fortunate we all are to be involved in this great hobby, to have a site like this to keep it going and to be associated with first class guys like Mike Leonard.
