When I was about 10 or 11 years old, there was a military surplus store here in Downey California called The Supply Sergeant. It was on Firestone Boulevard across from Simpson Buick.
In their fenced in yard there were a few vintage military vehicles on display just inside the chain link fence in plain view from Firestone, a heavily traveled street. In that yard was one of those twin Model T engine powered French WWI tanks.
The tank appeared to be complete and intact with one exception. It had taken a pretty good hit to the right rear. It had blown away some of the armor plate and damaged parts of one of the engines that was mounted backwards on the right. Other than that, the vehicle looked like it was in very good shape.
When I worked at Mattel, I worked with a guy that was a diehard military vehicle enthusiast and he told me that he knew of that tank and that it had been repaired and was again operational.
