I meant to post this about a year ago.., sorry.

If anyone is wanting a natural looking cast iron engine, hogs head, etc, here is the ticket! After cleaning the engine very well, no paint and minimal surface rust, apply cold with a tooth brush, let sit for about 20 minutes, polish off with a cloth. Big WOW factor! You can apply more than one coat. Holds up well and easy to touch up too. Works best on cast iron and small bare steel pieces. Takes about two tubes for a complete engine/transmission.

I use stove polish on exhaust manifolds. It keeps them from rusting, holds up well to the heat, and is easy to touch up if needed.

I have tried a little bit of everything for exhaust manifolds. The paints all peel away with time, regardless of the prep. The stove polish looks great, lasts a long time and is easy to touch up.

Same for me ... it’s great on exhaust manifolds. For other things I use the black Rustoleum Rust Reformer rattle can paint. Rub it down with a cotton cloth about 20 minutes after spraying for a very nice sheen.
