Hershey in the 1960's

Post by Herb Iffrig » Sat Jan 09, 2021 9:28 am

I've never been to Hershey. I guess I first started to hear about it in the 1970's.
This was found on youtube:

See the tank at about 5:12or so in the video.

Herb: Thanks for posting, I share your timeline. First heard about Hershey in '60's, made first visit in 2004. Those shots to the north of the airstrip and high school look like open country all the way to Canada! And one of the follow up vids of Hershey 2012 is pretty good too. jb

Just before the tank, have to chuckle; all those high priced cars and the Model A is roped off!
I know the voices aren't real but damn they have some good ideas!

That's a good alternative to having a time machine. I have a book somewhere with a cover photo much like that.
Like the old black & white photos it brings out a spot in time that is marvelous in so many ways.
Thanks for the opportunity to seeing it.

My first trip was in 1972. The show field was on the football field if I remember correctly. I remember holding a Kingston 5 ball carb with a price tag on it for 150.00. Walking in the mud up to my ankles and pushing a 1914 motor on a cart for what seemed like miles. Those were some fine times etched in my memory forever.

1969. Got a Model K engine for $50 in the the back field. Had to roll it
in the mud all the way back to Ohio.

Does anyone know more about that Model T sedan at 0:50? It looks like a custom body.
