Brake Pedal For my 26 Touring

Next spring I am planning to install hydraulic rear brakes (please no debates here). I'd like to buy a brake pedal to have the tab welded on and keep my original pedal intact. I'm looking at this one. The shaft is shot but does the cam look worn to you? This will fit my 26 Touring, right?

It looks like a 26 pedal. You could install a replacement shaft by removing the pin and reusing the pedal. If you leave the original brake band in the transmission, you can even adjust it so the hydraulic brake comes on first as you push the pedal, and then the transmission brake is a backup just in case the hydraulic brake fails. Some old cars actually had a similar safety feature.

Mike, the best way to check for wear on the pedal ramps is to back it up to a new notch. That way you have a reference point. There should be very little free travel in the pedal before it starts to ramp. There is wear showing on the pedal ramp.

Can't help you with the brake pedal but I have hydraulic disc brakes on my 1917 Touring and couldn't be happier. If you plan to tour with your car it is a great safety addition.

Its been pointed out in a few posts that the cam face on a pedal needs to mate properly with its counterpart on the transmission in order to get proper spring back. So if you think the pedal cam is worn - then you should expect that the support is to. Good time to replace parts subject to wear

Mikey, just a word of encouragement. I put hydraulic disk brakes on my '23 touring 4 years ago. I wouldn't drive it without them. Good move!!
