Later double stack vrs single stack mag coil ring question

Post by Mark Gregush » Tue Feb 02, 2021 11:09 am

Seeing Steve's nicely redone double stack mag coil ring brings a question to mind. Taking Ford's cost cutting into consideration and not forgetting the notch for starter: If both the later double stack and single stack use the same size magnets (I an pretty sure they did) which would make more power for the coils? I have 2 of them sitting on a shelf (the double stack) along with several single stack coil rings and have been thinking about doing a rebuild myself.
I know the voices aren't real but damn they have some good ideas!

When an engine is running they make no difference but if you are showing off in a later car mag starting it the double stack will start easiest on mag, they will fit in with out notching anything, the 1/4 will mag start also but not as good.
